(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 17 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 82 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Tianjin] Ms. Ma Yanxia Arrested
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on September 3, 2009, Ms. Ma Yanxia, a resident of Wangbuzhuang Village, Wangbuzhuang Town, Baodi District, Tianjin, was arrested at her sister's home by officers from the Wangbuzhuang Town Police Station. When the officers went to search her home, her family stopped and questioned them. The officers then called for additional police officers. More than a dozen of them jumped over a wall to get inside Ms. Ma's home. They threatened and reviled her family as they tried to stop the officers from searching the house. The officers kept the family outside while they ransacked the home. Many personal items were confiscated, along with a bankbook with tens of thousands yuan in balance. As of September 4, 2009, Ms. Ma was being held in the Wangbuzhuzng Town Police Station, and her family were not allowed to visit.

2. [Hohhot, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Zhou Liying Severely Persecuted in Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp
On September 2, 2009, Ms. Zhou Liying from Holingol City was arrested by Li Buhe and other officers from the Holingol Domestic Security Division. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor and is being held at the Third Division of the Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp. Although her term is ending, the forced labor camp refused to release her and extended her term for two more months because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Zhou is severely ill as a result of persecution.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Jihong Severely Persecuted in Dabei Prison
Ms. Sun Jihong, who was arrested on July 2, 2008, is being severely persecuted in the Dabei Prison in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.
4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Yanqiu and Ms. Yu Jing Sentenced to Five Years
Ms. Wu Yanqiu and Ms. Yu Jing, both from Jinzhou City, were arrested on April 17, 2009. On September 1, 2009, they were taken to the Dabei Prison in Shenyang City.
5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qian Ruixiang Detained at Shenyang Detention Center
Several inquiries revealed that Ms. Qian Ruixiang, who was arrested on August 13, 2009, is being held at the Shenyang City Detention Center located in Zaohua Town, Yuhong District. The Liutiao Lake Police Station gave false information when they claimed that Ms. Qian was sent to the Yuhong District Public Security Department.
6. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Dexiang Tortured in Detention Center
Ms. Sun Dexiang, who was arrested on July 25, 2009, is being tortured in the the Wuying Detention Center. In an effort to put together evidence to sentence Ms. Sun, officers tortured and deprived her of sleep for four days and nights to try to make her "confess."
7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liang Ning Persecuted
Ms. Liang Ning from Dalian City was secretly arrested by the local Domestic Security Division on July 5, 2009, and later taken to Yaojia Prison where she developed scabies. On August 19, 2009, she was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a two-year term.
8. [Helong City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Qingju Persecuted in 2005
Ms. Sun Qingju, born in 1963, is a resident of the Fourth Group, Bajiazi Town, Helong City. She had a career in teaching. On May 13, 2005, as soon as Ms. Sun got home from work, Wang Jiahui and three other officers from the local Domestic Security Division came to search her house. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, an MP3 player, and other personal items. The officers took her to the police station, where they tortured her to try to make her "confess." After beating and abusing her for half a day, they sent her to the local prison, where she was held in solitary confinement for four days without any food or water. The officers grabbed her hair and smashed her head against the wall, kicked her while wearing police boots, hit her head with a water bottle, slapped her, and forced her to sit on an iron chair. In one instance, seven or eight officers tied her down on a bed and injected her with unknown drugs.
9. [Tianjin] Mr. Cui Huanjun's Home Searched
On the morning of September 4, 2009, several officers from the Huangzhuang Township Police Station in the Wuqing District, Tianjin, broke into Mr. Cui Huanjun's home and ransacked it. Mr. Cui's whereabouts are unknown. According to sources, there was another male practitioner at Mr. Cui's home when the break-in occurred.

10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Shufeng Arrested at Home
On September 3, 2009, Ms. Guo Shufeng from the Zilao District, Weifang City, was arrested at home. At approximately 11:00 p.m. that day, five or six plainclothes officers broke into Ms. Guo's home and forcibly arrested her while she was taking a shower. When her family questioned one of the officers and asked for his name and I.D., he replied, "If I tell you, you'll publish my name on the Minghui website, so I won't tell you." He then pushed the person to the ground. The officers also confiscated Ms. Guo's Falun Gong books and other personal items.
11. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Shuping Arrested
Mr. Sun Shuping from Houlin Village, Shuangyang Town, Gaomi City, was recently arrested by seven officers from the Heya Police Station while he was repairing his watch at the Heya Fair.

12. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. He Xiuli Arrested
Ms. He Xiuli, 55, lives in the No. 6 Dormitory of the North China Pharmaceutical Group Corporation. At 7 p.m. on September 1, 2009, Ms. He was reported while she was telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was arrested by the Donghuan Police Station in Yuhua District. The police later searched her home. She is being held at the Shijiazhuang City Detention Center, and her family are not permitted to visit her.

13. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Additional Information on Ms. Zuo Shuping, Ms. Zhao Lanjun, and Mr. Tian Jingxian
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 2, 2009, four officers from the Yunhe Public Security Branch forced Ms. Zuo Shuping's husband to open the door and arrested Ms. Zuo. Ms. Zou is a teacher at the Cangzhou Teachers College. The officers also confiscated her computer, printer, and other personal items worth a total of more than 4,000 yuan.
At approximately 8:50 p.m. on September 2, 2009, roughly ten officers from the Yunhe Public Security Branch went to Ms. Zhao Lanjun's home. They searched it; confiscated all her Falun Gong books and materials, a cassette player, and exercise music tapes; and then arrested her.
At approximately 9:30 that evening, these officers went directly from Ms. Zhao's home to Mr. Tian Jingxian's home. After finding out that Mr. Tian was not home, they waited outside. At 10:30 p.m., when Mr. Tian came back, he was arrested.

According to sources, a male practitioner, who is in his 40s and wears glasses, was arrested while he was writing truth-clarifying messages near Liulin Bridge in Handan City.

18. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Luo Yuying Arrested
At noon on September 3, 2009, Ms. Luo Yuying, 64, a resident of Liucheng Town, Wenjiang District, Chengdu City, was arrested at home. The officers searched her home and confiscated a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, two computers, one printer, more than 10,000 yuan in cash, and other personal items.
19. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Nianchun Arrested
On the morning of August 13, 2009, Mr. Hu Nianchun from Tushanzui, Huangmei County, was taken to the Shili Detention Center by Hu Xiaobing, chief of the Shuogang Town Police Station, and two other officers. The officers also confiscated his Falun Gong books and other materials about Falun Gong. Mr. Hu was detained for 13 days before he was released.
20. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Ying Persecuted
On the morning of July 23, 2009, Ms. Chen Ying was reported while she was explaining the truth about Falun Gong with another practitioner in the nearby village. They were arrested by officers from the Yunsong Police Station in the Yunxi District, Yueyang City. Both practitioners refused to cooperate with the police during their interrogations and when the officers told them to sign their names, they refused. Two officers had to grab Ms. Chen's hand for fingerprints. That afternoon, Chief Meng of the police station and several other officers and broke into Ms. Chen's home. They ransacked it in search of "valuable" items so they could use them as evidence to sentence her to a three- to five-year term. However, nothing was found. The police then fabricated evidence, alleging that Ms. Chen "distributed Falun Gong related materials." She was detained at the Changlian Detention Center for 13 days and money was extorted from her. The day after she was released, local authorities sent extra officers to monitor Ms. Chen around the clock.
21. [Miyi County, Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Sentenced
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 3, 2009, the Miyi County Court tried Ms. Gao Longying, Ms. Zhang Zhenghuan, Ms. Zhou Jianxian, and Ms. Luo Shimei, who defended themselves. Other practitioners who sat in on the trial were ordered out of the courtroom. Cheng Mingheng, the presiding judge, upheld the lower court's ruling and sentenced Ms. Gao to a five-year term, Ms. Zhang to a four-year term, Ms. Luo to a three-year term, and Ms. Zhou to a two-year term.
On September 3, 2009, Ms. Liao Deying was arrested while she was working in her fields. Officers went to the home of Ms. Zhang Qunying to harassed her. The police used a black list to find the local practitioners. Several practitioners in Binggu Town have been harassed by the police.
22. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Min and Mr. Wang Shiming Sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a Two-year Term
Ms. Wang Min and Mr. Wang Shiming were arrested along with their mother on July 17, 2009, by officers from the Tianjin Street Police Station in the Zhongshan District. They were later held in the Dalian Detention Center and have been transferred to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term.
23. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Xiaoyun and Ms. Yang Guiying Taken to Jiamusi Detention Center
In the afternoon on September 2, 2009, Ms. Wang Xiaoyun and Ms. Yang Guiying were arrested by officers from the Changsheng Police Station while they were explaining the truth about Falun Gong. At approximately 9:00 p.m. that evening, officers from the Changsheng Police Station went to search Ms. Wang's house. Ms. Wang and Ms. Yang are being held at the Jiamusi Detention Center.

24. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ding Jie Sent to Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp
On September 3, 2009, Ms. Ding Jie, who had been detained for more than two months in the Jiamusi Detention Center, was sent to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp by Li Xinbo and other officers from the Jiamusi Suburban Force Labor Committee.
25. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Xiufang Sent to Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison
Ms. Liu Xiufang from Jiamusi City was arrested on February 13, 2009, and tried by Zhao Yubin and others from the Xiangyang District Court at the Jiamusi Detention Center on July 7, 2009. Without notifying her family, the court secretly sentenced Ms. Liu to a three-year term. On September 2, 2009, she was sent to the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison.
26. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Xiuqin Sent to Langfang City Brainwashing Center
According to sources, Ms. Li Xiuqin, was arrested by officers from the Xianghe County 610 Office and the Public Security Department on July 28, 2009. Approximately two weeks ago, she was taken to the Langfang City Brainwashing Center.
27. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Lu Tiemin Arrested
On September 3, 2009, Mr. Lu Tiemin from Linzhuang Village, Daguo Township, Xingtai Citym was arrested while at work. His whereabouts remain unknown.
28. [She County, Hebei Province] One Female Practitioner from Suobao Town, She County, Arrested at Home by Officers from the She County Domestic Security Division
29. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Fang Guangxiao Sent to Xinjin Brainwashing Center
On August 2, 2009, Mr. Fang Guangxiao, a retired engineer from the Chengdu Seamless Steel Pipe Factory, was arrested and sent to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center.
30. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Jiuxiu Persecuted for More than Four Months
On May 11, 2009, Ms. Yang Jinxiu from Chengdu City, was reported while she was explaining the truth about Falun Gong in Sanhechang Town, Xindu District, Chengdu City. Officers from the Sanhechang Police Station arrested her, charging her with possession of Falun Gong materials. She has been held at the Xindu Detention Center for more than four months without due process.
31. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] 50 Practitioners from Beijing Held at Wuhan Brainwashing Center
According to sources, 50 practitioners from Beijing that were arrested before the Beijing Olympic Games are being held in the Wuhan Brainwashing Center. The center is located in a newly completed four-story building next to Wuhan Women's Forced Labor Camp. The majority of these practitioners have been sentenced to a two-year term or longer.
32. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ding Kuangsong Detained at Jishu Brainwashing Center
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on August 31, 2009, Mr. Ding Kuangsong, a former employee of the Shengli Oil Field, was arrested by Dong Ning, an officer from the local Domestic Security Division. His store was searched. Mr. Ding is being held at the Jishu Brainwashing Center.

On September 3, 2009,. Ms. Wu Meixian, 66, was reported while she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong near the Zhongying Community in Wuchang City. She was arrested by officers from the Huanghelou Police Station. After the police interrogation, she was taken to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center in Wuchang City.

34. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp Intensified the Persecution of Ms. An Dehua and Ms. Zhang Linxia
Ms. An Dehua, 47, is a nurse at the Binzhou City Hospital. Ms. Zhang Linxia, 39, is self employed. Both women have two young children. On the eve of the Beijing Olympic Games, they were arrested and taken to the Fourth Division of the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp.
The labor camp forced everyone to submit a monthly reform progress report to the Administration Office. Falun Gong practitioners were ordered to write slanderous words about Falun Gong. In May 2009, Ms. An and Ms. Zhang refused to write the report and protested the hard labor.
Han Jianhua, officer in charge of brainwashing, and Kong Yanxia, officer in charge of forced labor, brutally persecuted both Ms. An and Ms. Zhang. Except for the inmates who were assigned to closely monitor Ms. An and Ms. Zhang, no one was allowed to speak to them. The practitioners were not allowed to talk to anyone, either. They were forced to stand for long periods of time or sit on a small bench, and allowed only two to three hours sleep daily. They were not given enough to eat and were not allowed to purchase extra meals on their own. They were frequently subjected to beatings and verbal abuses.
