(Clearwisdom.net) Accompanied by his wife and daughter, Tainan City Councilor Lee Weng-Cheng watched the first show of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company at the Tainan Municipal Culture Center. He was profoundly moved and said, "Watching Shen Yun perform is spiritual joy and an artistic feast!"

'Watching Shen Yun perform is spiritual enjoyment and an artistic feast,' said Mr. Lee Wen-Cheng, Tainan City Councilor.

Mr. Lee praised the show, saying: "The show was marvelous. All of the programs linked up with each other in a well-knit manner. Classical dances and music were integrated with modern lighting and acoustic technology, so well that the show is truly excellent.

"There are many programs in the show illustrating historical stories, which make the audience recollect traditional values, such as loyalty and filial piety, taught in our textbooks. No matter from which angle we examine it, these stories always awaken gigantic echoes and feelings in us," said Lee in an emotional tone, referring to Shen Yun's presentation of Chinese legends through dances.

"The dynamic backdrop is unusual. It integrates dances, arts, and music so well and so accurately. I believe prolonged training and continuous refinement must have been done before the dynamic backdrop could work with the performance so seamlessly. This is another delight for the audience. I cherish this opportunity to see a performance, like Shen Yun, in which we are deeply moved by the presentation of arts and stories," said Mr. Lee.

The lyrics of the solos had profound meaning for Mr. Lee. He said: "I seldom saw such a performance in the past. Through understanding the tenor's singing, the audience enlightens to truths and facts. The songs they sang have abundant connotations. They are really excellent.

"What moved me the most is the exhibition of the good and the evil of humanity. Falun Gong practitioners do not have freedom of belief in China. Through dances, Falun Gong practitioners won ultimate victory upholding the truth. The artistic presentation greatly affected us," said Mr. Lee, referring to the idea manifested in the show that good and evil have their own rewards.

Mr. Lee was deeply moved when he saw the scene in which Falun Gong practitioners remained steadfast to their beliefs in spite of the persecution in China. He said: "Freedom of belief is a basic human right. No matter which country is concerned, freedom of belief should not be withheld. The persecution that Falun Gong has been suffering in China needs everyone's attention. Through the arts, we have a far deeper understanding about these issues.

"I think we should speak up loudly." Mr. Lee went on to say he sincerely hopes that people in China can enjoy freedom of belief soon.

CEO Touched by the Performances

The Chairman of Milan Hair lnc., which is the biggest hair styling chain in the greater Tainan area, Mr. Xu Hanzong, attended Shun Yun Performing Arts New York Company's 2010 premiere in Tainan on April 1. He bought 27 company managers, his wife Wu Ziyi, and his eldest daughter to see the show. When interviewed, he was still visibly moved by the show. He said: "Those ethnic Tibetan dancers' outfits could only have come from Heaven. They brightened up the whole theatre.

"I've never seen such a wonderful performance before. The music, the dances and the skill manifested our Chinese culture. . . it made me feel as if I was really there."

Mr. Xu continued to relate the feelings the show brought to him. The dancers' extraordinarily beautiful outfits, matched with the dance, were to him beautiful beyond belief.

"The matching of the outfits, together with the dances, was incredibly, incredibly beautiful. I have no words to describe how moving it was," he said.

"The [Shen Yun Orchestra] accompanying the show on-site was just divine, incredible! The dance, backdrops and heavenly clothing melded so seamlessly. They danced as one body and gave people such a beautiful experience. It brought me to a beautiful realm, it was a powerful experience."

After seeing the Shen Yun performance, Mr. Xu understood that Falun Gong practitioners were being persecuted in China, but were steadfastly holding onto their beliefs no matter the hardship. He said: "Today I live in a happy and prosperous household like others in the theatre. But the two sides of the [Taiwan Strait] have met with different fortunes. In this free region we can live a happy and prosperous life, but on the other side of the strait they are attacking kind and compassionate citizens. They shouldn't be attacking these kind, good people." He said this performance had moved him into action.

Sitting by his side, his wife Wu Ziyi said sadly: "When I saw Nothing Can Block the Divine Path, I was especially moved. Such strong, unyielding belief, strength from deep within, even though they suffered persecution, they were still able to find their place among the Gods. Only with faith in one's heart does life have meaning."

She was touched by the performances and said, "The whole performance was just incredible! It manifested Chinese culture, and the dancers' steps were light and varied like flowing water, as if walking on clouds. It made you feel like you were among the Gods; it made the mind and body so joyous."
