(Minghui.org) Since late August, the Ningxia Autonomous Region Political and Legal Committee and Ningxia 610 Office have directed the police and neighborhood committee members throughout the region to persecute Falun Gong practitioners by following them, bugging their phones, watching their residences, ransacking their homes, and arresting them. Many practitioners have had to leave home to avoid further persecution. What follows is what happened to eight of these practitioners.
Ms. Zhang Guifang followed and arrested
On August 27, Ms. Zhang Guifang from Yinchuan City was arrested and taken to the Fenghuangbeijie Police Station. When she failed to pass the physical, she returned home the next day. Ms. Zhang is retired from the Ningxia Sugar Factory. She has been arrested and detained many times, and her home has been ransacked several times.
Mr. Zheng Yongxin, Mr. Yang Jie and her husband, and Ms. Zhang Guixiu taken into custody
On August 28, Chen Jianhua and Li Lan from the Xixia District Domestic Security Division of Yinchuan City ganged up with a group of officers from Helanshan Police Station, surrounded the home of Mr. Zheng Yongxin, and arrested him, Ms Yang Jie and her husband, and Ms. Zhang Guixiu who was visiting. The police then ransacked Zheng Yongxin's home and damaged and searched the car he had recently borrowed. Ms. Zhang Guixiu was released that day, but the couple were held in the Yinchuan Detention Center.
Ms. Yang Jie went on a hunger strike in the detention center to protest the persecution. The detention center authorities tried to force-feed her, but she was able to fend them off. On the seventh day, September 3rd, she suddenly began vomiting blood. The detention center authorities put her on “medical parole” and let her go home. Mr. Zheng Yongxin is still in the detention center.
While Ms. Yang Jie and her husband were in detention, a friend of theirs rode over 20 kilometers on his bicycle to deliver clothes to them. When their friend arrived, he had to show his ID and sign papers, only to be told that clothing could not be accepted because it was available for purchase inside, and the only thing that was accepted was money. In fact, demanding to see an ID and signing papers are the detention center's usual tricks to track Falun Gong practitioners who come to visit. The items available for purchase in the detention center shop are all high-priced, low-quality goods.
Mr. Zheng Yongxin was employed at Yinchuan Power Supply Bureau. He has been in Ningxia Forced Labor Camp and in Guyuan Prison for a total of eight years. He was discharged from public employment. As soon as his term expired on November 11, 2007, Ningxia 610 Office seized him and took him to a brainwashing center. He finally returned home at the end of 2007. As part of the CCP's preparation for the Olympics in June 2008, many practitioners in Ningxia were arrested and harassed, including Mr. Zheng. Yinchuan City Funing Street Police Station officers arrested him and kept him in the Yinchuan Detention Center for more than ten days.
Ms. Yang Jie is from Zhongwei City in the Ningxia Region. She is 40 years old. She used to work for an insurance company. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997 and experienced great positive physical and mental changes. However, between 1999 when the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong and 2009, Ms. Yang has been repeatedly persecuted and tortured in Ningxia Women's Forced Labor Camp and Ningxia Women's Prison. She almost died and lost her job twice due to the persecution. In 2010, Ms. Yang Jie married Mr. Zheng Yongxin, who had been severely persecuted for eight years, and they temporarily lived in a relative's home. This was the only time the couple had a stable place they could call home. Nevertheless, Zhongwei City police often harass and intimidate her parents at her parents' home.
Ms. Zhang Guixiu is from Pingluo County in Ningxia. She had been imprisoned at the Ningxia Women's Prison for four years before this incident.
Ms. Chen Hua arrested from home
On August 28, Zhang Anzhong, Wu Jianguo and others from the Yinchuan 610 Office arrested Ms. Chen Hua from her home in the Xinqing District in Yinchuan City. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, printer, and other items. She was held in the Yinchuan Detention Center for 15 days.
Ms. Chen Hua is a retired accountant who holds a junior college degree. In February 2011, she was held in the Yinchuan Detention Center for several days.
Mr. Ma Xiongde and his wife, Ms. Zheng Fengying, arrested
On September 1, Ms. Zheng Fengying returned home after three years away. Her neighbor reported her, and police from the Wuzhong City Domestic Security Division came and arrested her and her husband, Ma Dexiong, and ransacked their home. The police took them to Qingtongxia Police Station and then held them at the Wuzhong City Detention Center. Three years ago, in November 2009, because the Qingtongxia People's Court wrongfully sentenced Ms. Zheng, she left home in order to avoid persecution.
Ms. Zheng is retire from Wuzhong Instrument Factory. She had to retire early at age 45 due to poor health. She used to have multiple diseases, including serious kidney stones. In May 1997, she and her husband started practicing Falun Gong together. In just a few months, all her diseases disappeared.
Since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, these two have been detained, sentenced to forced labor, and imprisoned several times. Each time their family and friends had to take care of their son. Ms. Zheng's mother could not bear the atmosphere of terror and the pressure of her daughter and son-in-law being repeatedly detained and passed away while Ms. Zheng was in a forced labor camp.
The couple are still being held at the Wuzhong City Detention Center.
Mr. Li Tianyuan Followed and Arrested
On September 5, several officers including Wang Shiyuan and Zhang Dingsheng from Yinchuang City Domestic Security Division seized Mr. Li Tianyuan on South Qinghe Street, ransacked his home, and then held him at the Yinchuan City Detention Center.
The detention center is located near his shop, so it is very likely that officers had been monitoring him.
While in detention, Mr. Li went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. He developed symptoms of serious illness on the sixth day. Fearing his death, the authorities released him after he failed the physical at the hospital.
Mr. Li Tianyuan, 39, is self-employed. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. In 2000, the CCP agents sentenced him to two years of forced labor and held him in Ningxia First Forced Labor Camp, where he was tortured.
Besides the practitioners named above, there are many other practitioners who are being subjected to harassment, home ransacking, and surveillance.
