Postscript: A Brief Synopsis of Ms. Lin Zejing's Circumstances

Ms. Lin Zejing, who worked at the pharmaceutical factory in the Huanggang District, was taken to the No. 1 Detention Center in Yingshan and imprisoned for 40 days by the Huanggang City 610 Office, Huangzhou Police Department, and Domestic Security Division because she went to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in 1999. Ms. Lin was shackled to Ms. Liu Zhihong for a long period of time while she was detained there. They were handcuffed and shackled with one set of handcuffs and foot shackles. The police department refused to tell their families where they were detained. They both had to squat in the bathroom when one of them had their menstrual cycle because they didn't have any toilet paper.

Ms. Lin was sent to the Shayang Forced Labor Camp for one year because she went to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in June 2000. Her sentence was extended by four months because she refused to stop practicing Falun Gong. They once handcuffed her hands together behind her back with one hand crossed over a shoulder, and tortured her with electric batons on her face because she wouldn't curse Falun Gong or tell lies about Falun Gong. She wouldn't say that Falun Gong deceived her. During the heat of summer she was forced to do the same labor required of a common criminal and suffered other forms of cruel torture, including being sunburned, being forced to run in the midday sun, and standing like a soldier until the middle of the night, because she wouldn't give up her belief.

The Huanggang City 610 Office and the State Security Bureau, the Huangzhou Police Department and Domestic Security Division, and the legal system center in Hubei Province set up a brainwashing center in July 2004 to persecute all the Falun Gong practitioners residing in Huanggang City. More than 20 of them were arrested and persecuted. Ms. Lin wasn't at home when the police officers arrived. She became destitute and homeless as they searched for her everywhere. In September 2004, in order to locate Ms. Lin, agents from the State Security Bureau forced the principal of the elementary school to find Ms. Lin's son, who had just begun first grade. They deceived the boy to get him to go look for his mother. The police officers surreptitiously followed him to the place where Ms. Lin stayed in the middle of the night. Her relatives refused to cooperate. The officers searched for her relatives' bosses in order to force them to open the door. Her relatives and son were hurt in the process.

The Huanggang City 610 Office, Huangzhou Police Department and Domestic Security Division, Huanggang City State Security Bureau, and the local police arrested over a dozen practitioners and ransacked their homes on August 16, 2011. They confiscated their computers, cash, and other personal property. They took Ms. Lin Zejing's computer, over 40,000 yuan, and other items. She was persecuted for three months at the brainwashing center located at the legal system center of Hubei Province. Some people reported that they had seen Ms. Lin when she was persecuted in the brainwashing center. She was incontinent and lying in bed soaked in urine and excrement. Her mouth had been pried open and she was missing a front tooth. She was in terrible condition. She was denied any visits and wasn't allowed to see her relatives. Her family brought her clothes, but they weren't given to her. At the end of November 2011 she was still wearing the clothes that she had been arrested in on August 16, 2011.

Ms. Lin's relatives went to the Huanggang City 610 Office to seek her release in August 2011. The next day, Wan Huiya (female), the director of the Huangzhou Domestic Security Division; Du Zhao, the assistant director of the Huangzhou Domestic Security Division; and others ransacked Ms. Lin's relatives' home. They also went to Ms. Lin's former work unit at the pharmaceutical factory and demanded money from them, but they refused to give it. They went to her husband's employer, also asking for money. They put pressure on him to cooperate with the 610 Office to persecute his wife.

Ms. Lin has been in prison for over a year. The Procuratorate reviewed and returned her case twice. However, the court will still follow the orders of the 610 Office and put Ms. Lin on trial.
