(Minghui.org) On February 17, 2012, Huayuanjie Police Station officers in the Qiaodong District, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province tricked Mr. Liu Jianjun into opening his door by claiming that they were there to collect a water utility fee. They forced their way into his home, beat him, then arrested him. He was taken the Huayuanjie Police Station and bound to a Tiger Bench. Transferred to the municipal detention center, he was force-fed several times. On March 1, his body turned cold, he was barely breathing, and his pulse was almost undetectable, so officials allowed his family to take him home.
Arrest
On February 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., Mr. Liu was at home with another practitioner, when he heard a knock on his door. He asked the visitor to identify himself, and the person replied that he was there to collect water utility fees. Mr. Liu opened the door and saw a group of people standing there, including Su Wei from Huayuanjie Community Management Committee. He tried to close the door quickly, but it was too late. Seven or eight of them broke into his home, including committee members, Wang Jinfeng, and Huayuanjie Police Station officers Ding Kenan and Jia Jianzhong. They had all previously participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
They ordered Mr. Liu to give them his cellphone, but he refused, so four or five of them began to kick and hit him. Ding Kenan shoved Mr. Liu to the ground, and then handcuffed him. The other practitioner quickly opened the cellphone, took out the SIM (memory) card, and swallowed it. Officer Jia Jianzhong forced the practitioner's mouth open, and then struck him in the face in order to force him to spit out the card.
Bound to a Tiger Bench at the Police Station
Ding Kenan and two other officers arrested Mr. Liu and took him to the Huayuanjie Police Station. They didn't even let him put on his shoes. He was barely able put on a shirt. He shouted, “Heaven will eliminate the Chinese Communist Party! Falun Dafa is wonderful!” Officer Ding Kenan kept striking Mr. Liu's head, bloodying his nose and mouth, but Mr. Liu didn't stop shouting.
At the police station, officers handcuffed Mr. Liu to a tiger bench from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The person monitoring him was very cold even though he was wearing a down jacket and winter boots. Mr. Liu had on only socks and stood on the freezing floor. He was handcuffed from behind, and his chest was exposed.
Officers confiscated a set of Falun Dafa books, six copies of Zhuan Falun, two laser printers, two color laser printers, one notebook PC, one CD burner, a CD ROM, one hard drive, over 40,000 yuan, blank DVDs, printer accessories, and other valuables.
At about 7:30 p.m., the officers returned and took Mr. Liu to the second floor, where deputy Wang picked up a piece of clothing and tried to wipe the blood off his face. They then handcuffed him again and bound him with rope. Three to four people took shifts monitoring Mr. Liu.
On the morning of February 18, Sun Wenxue presented a written confession that listed the “criminal charges” against Mr. Liu. The deputy placed the confession in front of Mr. Liu and ordered him to sign it. Mr. Liu said, “I will never cooperate with you.” Sun Wenxue wanted to take a picture of Mr. Liu, but they didn't allow it. At around 2:00 p.m., they transferred Mr. Liu to the detention center.
The Municipal Detention Center: Beaten, Force-fed, Handcuffed, and Shackled
Detention center staff examined Mr. Liu and observed that his face was swollen and bruised from the beatings, but police officers insisted that he was in good condition. One officer wanted to take a picture of Mr. Liu, but since he refused to cooperate, that officer struck him in the face a few times. Mr. Liu challenged this, stating that he hadn't committed a crime, so why was he hitting him? Another officer (last name Liu) searched him and found 500 yuan (about $80 USD) in his pocket. An officer said, “We'll leave this money in Room 101.”
Mr. Liu was taken to Room 101. He told the inmates there, “I want to do the Falun Gong exercises. I will not eat nor drink. the rules here do not pertain to me.”
Torture reenactment: Force-feeding
On the morning of February 20, Su Wei from Huanyuanjie, deputy Mr. Wang, officer Sun Wenxue, and others went to the police station intending to force-feed Mr. Liu. Inmates carried Mr. Liu to a location with freezing temperatures. Officers forced Mr. Liu's legs down on the freezing ground. While others pulled his hair, Su Wei pushed hard on his mouth. Mr. Liu tried to resist, but they succeeded in force-feeding him. Mr. Liu saw from the identity badge of the person who force-fed him that it was the person in charge of the nurses at the municipal Women's and Children Wellness Hospital. They force-fed him with a mixture of milk, salt, and unknown medications. After they pulled the tube out of his mouth, he tried to vomit everything out. Mr. Liu then said to them, “Stop doing this,. Look at how Meng Huqun, the former head of Huayuanjie Police Station, received retribution for his evil acts and was diagnosed with cancer.” He read Sun Wenxue's badge out loud, asked him for his name, and asked why he'd beaten him so hard. This upset Sun, who kept denying his actions. Mr. Liu kept saying to everyone: “Heaven will eliminate the CCP. You have to withdraw from the Party and its affiliated organizations in order to ensure your future safety.”
After they finished force-feeding him, a few prisoners carried Mr. Liu back to the cell. As soon as he returned, he quickly went to the toilet to vomit again. Inside the cell, Mr. Liu clarified the facts about Falun Dafa to the inmates, did the exercises, or sent righteous thoughts. He tried to help the inmates to withdraw from the CCP and affiliated organizations—he did everything that a practitioner should do.
On February 24, Huayuanjie Police Station deputy Wang, Sun Wenxue, and others came to force-feed Mr. Liu again. Prisoners asked Mr. Liu to walk from the cell, but he refused. They then dragged him by his shirt all the way to the same location where he was previously force-fed. Deputy Wang held Mr. Liu from behind, while Sun Wenxue and other officers pushed down on his stomach. Wang Mei, the person in charge of the nurses at the Women's and Children Wellness Hospital, inserted the tube into his mouth. In order to prevent Mr. Liu from vomiting again, they blocked the exit with a “tiger bench” and locked Mr. Liu inside.
After a few minutes, prison doctor Liu announced that the force-feeding was finished, so a few prisoners carried Mr. Liu back to the cell. As soon as he returned, he rushed over to the toilet and started vomiting again, but couldn't eliminate everything this time. Mr. Liu was lying on the concrete floor with one thought in his mind: He would never give in to evil or allow those filthy substances to enter his clean body. Mr. Liu was left shirtless on the freezing ground for two hours. During that time, he continued to shout, “Heaven will eliminate the CCP! Only by withdrawing from the Party and its affiliated organizations can you ensure your future safety!”
On February 27, a detention center deputy ordered Mr. Liu to be taken out of the cell and placed on the ground against a wall. A detention center doctor put some IVs in Mr. Liu, but they were later removed after they determined that Mr. Liu's life was in danger.
On the morning of February 29, cell inmates reported to the detention center staff that Mr. Liu's limbs were freezing cold, he was hardly breathing, and they couldn't detect his pulse. After the doctor verified this, he was afraid of taking any responsibility, so they took him to No.1 Hospital. Doctors there were unable to take blood samples from his arm or give him injections, so they tried to inject him through his feet. Mr. Liu didn't cooperate and pulled out the needles. Seeing that, police officers bound him to the bed with handcuffs and foot shackles and used bandages to tie his legs. The doctor told them that this would prevent his blood from circulating, but they didn't listen.
At 4:00 p.m. on March 1, his parents (who are nearly 80), sister, and sister-in-law came to the hospital to see him. Due to his critical condition at that time, his handcuffs and foot shackles were removed, and he left the hospital with his family.
