Additional Persecution News from China – May 19, 2012 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 15 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Sanmenxia City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Guizhen Passed Away as a Result of the Persecution

Ms. Li Guizhen, from Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, was arrested by officers from the Sanmenxia City Domestic Security Division on February 18, 2012. She was held at the Shan County Detention Center for three months. As a result of the torture while in custody, her condition became critical and she was subsequently taken to the Sanmenxia City Hospital. On May 17, 2012, she passed away as a result of persecution at the age of 48.

2. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Xu Zhibin Tortured in Jinzhou City Prison

Mr. Xu Zhibin, 52, was tortured in the Jinzhou City Prison. Mr. Xu's family members have not been allowed to visit him for over three years. When they saw him three years ago, he was very weak and weighed only about 100 pounds. He staggered, and his feet had no feeling and felt numb.

Since July 20, 1999, Mr. Xu has been arrested six times. On April 29, 2002, officials extorted a false confession from him through torture. On September 29, 2002, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison and is currently being held at the Jinzhou City Prison.

3. [Xiong County, Hebei Province] Mr. Yuan Shushan Detained

Police officers from Shuangtang Township abruptly entered Mr. Yuan Shushan's home in Leshanzhuang, Shuangtang Township, on the afternoon of May 4, 2012. They confiscated informational DVDs about Falun Gong and Falun Gong founder's portrait. The officers arrested Mr. Yuan and took him to the Xiong County Detention Center.

On the morning of May 8, 2012, Guo Junxue, chief of Domestic Security Division of the Xiong County Police Department, led approximately eight officers into Ms. Bo Ying's home in Liuzhuang, Shuangtang Township. They ransacked the house and confiscated Falun Gongbooks. Ms. Bo resisted the arrest, and police failed to arrest her.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Rui on Hunger Strike in Yaojiao Detention Center

Ms. Li Rui was arrested by officers from the Airport Police Station when she spoke to people about Falun Gong on May 11, 2012. She was taken to the Yaojiao Detention Center. She has been on a hunger strike for 8 days to protest the persecution.

5. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Fang Detained

Ms. Liu Fang, from Zhiguang Township, was arrested on her way to work by officers from the Chengxin Police Station in Wuchang City on the morning of May 14, 2012. Officers, including Zhan Zhigang from Domestic Security Division of the Wuchang City Police Department, later ransacked Ms. Liu's home. Ms. Liu was taken to the Wuchang City Detention Center.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Song Yanqun in Critical Condition at Heizuizi Woman’s Prison

Ms. Song Yanqun has been on a hunger strike for over 40 days to protest the persecution at Heizuizi Woman’s Prison. She is now in critical condition. When her father went to visit her on May 16, 2012, he saw that she spoke very slowly, had dull eyes, stiff arms and swollen legs, and had trouble walking.

7. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Cui Xianglan was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center at Songlin Senior Center around May 15, 2012.

Ms. Chi Shuling from Shixian Town and Ms. Zhang Shuxian from Qushui were arrested and taken to the same brainwashing center on May 17, 2012.

8. [Qianxi County, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Guifen Taken to Forced Labor Camp

On the afternoon of May 16, 2012, officers from the Qian'an Domestic Security Division and Tangshan City Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Ma Guifen, from Qianxi County. Ms. Ma was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor and taken to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Around May 14, 2012, a group of officers from the Qian'an Domestic Security Division in three police vehicles ransacked Ms. Ma's home and confiscated informational brochures and DVDs about Falun Gong. They also arrested Ms. Ma's husband, Mr. Wang Weidong, and took him to the Qian'an Domestic Security Division. They released him after extorting 5,000 yuan.

9. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Mr. Miao Lujun Sent to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Miao Lujun from the Shengli Oil Field Automobile Repair Shop was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on May 15, 2012. He was taken to the Jishu Brainwashing Center.

10. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Jianping's Whereabouts Unknown

On the morning of May 17, 2012, four agents from the Renmin Road Police Station in Xiangyang and the Renmin Road Community forcefully entered Ms. Li Jianping's home and arrested her. They took her to the former location of a police station in Zhutiao Town, Fancheng District. However, upon discovering that no one was there, they took Ms. Li back home. Ms. Li's current whereabouts are unknown. She may have been arrested again.

On the afternoon of the same day, Ms. Mei Qiulian, in her 50s, was also arrested. She was forcefully taken into a police vehicle, but managed to jump out of the vehicle. Her husband fought with the police officers who tried to arrest him but failed.

11. [Chongqing] Ms. Chen Shiping and Ms. Yu Shuhui Detained

Ms. Chen Shiping and Ms. Yu Shuhui are currently held in the Langshan Detention Center.

12. [Luotian County, Hubei Province] Ms. Peng Wenlin Detained

Ms. Peng Wenlin, 64, is a retired employee of the Huangshi City Cotton Weaving Factory. On May 16, 2012, she was arrested in Luotian County, where she resides. She is now held in the Luotian County Second Detention Center.

13. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Huang Haiyan Arrested; Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Huang Haiyan, from Shuiguohu, Wuchang District, was arrested when she was working at her store on the afternoon of May 15, 2012. Her whereabouts are unknown.

14. [Yingyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Jin Jianxin and Mr. Zhou Guoxuan Arrested

On the afternoon of May 17, 2012, when Mr. Jin Jianxin from Gaocun Township was working at a factory, he was deceived by three plainclothes police officers into having to return home. Around seven officers were stationed around his home and arrested him as soon as he arrived. They confiscated his notebook computer, a printer and other personal property. Another practitioner, Mr. Zhou Guoxuan, was placed in the same police vehicle.

15. [Leiyang City, Hunan Province] Six Practitioners Detained (Update)

Ms. Tan Meiyun, Ms. Zhou Shunying, Ms. Lu Xiuhua, Ms. Liu Ying, Ms. Xu Tianxiang from Laiyang City, and Mr. Liu Dongsheng were arrested and detained on April 19, 2012.

Ms. Tan and Mr. Liu were released from the detention center on May 17, 2012. Ms. Zhou and Ms. Lu are still detained.
