(Minghui.org) In the beginning of the persecution, it was imperative for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to demonize Falun Dafa in order to assure that the Chinese people bought into its plan to eradicate the popular practice. To this end, the CCP fabricated the so-called “1,400 cases” about people who had died as a result of Falun Dafa. The CCP was able to pull the wool over the eyes of the Chinese people, given its full control over the Chinese media. Now, 13 years have passed, and a significant number of people have seen through the evil nature of the CCP and many who had been deceived by the CCP's propaganda and misunderstood Falun Dafa have now learned the truth. However, there are still people who are deceived and have not listened to the facts.

Among the “1,400 death cases,” there is one that especially stands out: “Wang Anshou Killed His Father with a Spade.” The CCP's media said, “Originally Wang Anshou’s family life was harmonious. In January 1998, he began to practice Falun Dafa. On April 8 of that year his father wanted to stop him from practicing Falun Dafa, so he stabbed his father to death with a spade and a pole out of anger … Wang Anshou suffered from schizophrenia because of practicing Falun Dafa. He looked at his father and wife who tried to stop him from practicing Falun Dafa, as a fox or tiger spirit.” This is just one case of a psychiatric patient committing murder, a tragic story that was altered and publicized by the CCP in order to harm Falun Dafa. This and similar stories have appeared on many of the CCP-controlled media and websites.

Time Frame Testifies to CCP’s False Accusations

What is really the truth? How did Wang Anshou become mentally ill? Let's look at the verdict of the Xintai City Court, Shandong Province. His wife, Yi Yanju, had filed for divorce. In May, 1999, Mr. Wang Anshou received the judgment of divorce.

The Civil Judgment regarding Mr. Wang Anshou's divorce

The judgment documents detail the reasons listed by plaintiff Yi Yanju in her divorce filings, “The defendant had concealed his history of mental illness and after we had been married his mental illnesses recurred many times. Since his mental illness is affecting our marriage negatively, I no longer can live with the defendant. Therefore I’m petitioning for a divorce.”

The Xintai City Court papers detail, “In 1988, the defendant (Wang Anshou) suffered a mental breakdown and was treated at the Tai'an City Mental Hospital for more than two months. In 1996, the defendant's mental illness recurred and he was admitted to the Tai'an Mental Hospital many times. In 1998, the defendant began to practice Falun Dafa. In April the same year his mental illness recurred and he hacked his father to death with a spade. He was taken to Tai'an Mental Hospital for treatment, where he is still being held. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.” The court granted the divorce, because Wang concealed his history of mental illness before their marriage. The symptoms of mental symptoms recurred many times after Wang got married and being unsuccessfully treated. The plaintiff demanded the divorce, given the above reasons and as the couple's mutual affection was destroyed.

The judgment clearly delineates that Mr. Wang's mental illness was not caused by practicing Falun Dafa. He suffered from the mental illness as early as 1988. In other words, before learning to practice Falun Dafa he already had a ten-year history of mental illness. Secondly, his mental illness recurred frequently and he was taken to a mental hospital for treatment in 1996. His wife also testified that he had “suffered from mental illness symptoms many times after they were married and treatment was unsuccessful.” Therefore we concluded that when Wang Anshou began to practice Falun Dafa in 1998 he had already been a mental patient, suffering psychosis since 1988, with no treatment being successful. The killing of his father has no relationship with Falun Dafa. Even in the court judgment it stated clearly, he “killed his father when his mental illness recurred.”

We compared the CCP's report with the judgment by the Xintai City Court and found that the CCP's official media concealed Wang Anshou's history of mental illness in its reports. To justify their persecution of Falun Dafa the official media hid the fact that Wang was a mental patient long before Falun Dafa was brought to the public. Yet they omitted this fact and framed Falun Dafa for having caused his mental illness.

There are numerous cases where mental patients' histories were manipulated to frame Falun Dafa. Another example is Fu Yibin, called the "Capital Murder Case." Actually, he began to exhibit symptoms of mental illness around 1993 and often ran around stark-naked. Then, there is Ma Jianmin who was said to have cut open her belly to find a Falun. Both Fu and Ma had a history of mental illness, but the CCP ignored the facts to frame Falun Dafa.

Falun Dafa Brings Goodness and Health to People

Falun Dafa is a high-level cultivation practice guided by the universal principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. The practice was made public in 1992 and has now spread to more than 100 countries worldwide. A hundred million people enjoy good health because of practicing Falun Dafa. Among them there are many people from universities, high ranking officials, ordinary people and even those that are illiterate. All Dafa practitioners try to be a good person and live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

During the seven years before the onset of the persecution, many television and radio stations, as well as newspapers, published positive and fair reports about Falun Gong. There was no mention of suicide, murder or mental illnesses because of practicing Falun Gong. The government departments, including the Public Security Ministry all spoke highly of Falun Gong and its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi. In 1998, the senior cadres of the central government headed by the former Chairman of the National People's Congress concluded, after an investigation on Falun Gong, “It brings numerous benefits and doesn’t bring harm to society.”

Tortured into Mental Collapse

Sadly, the CCP itself has caused a number of Falun Gong practitioners to suffer mental illness as a result of the brutal persecution, including torture and forced administration of drugs. The CCP has publicized some of these cases in an effort to further slander Falun Gong. During the 13 years of persecution, unaccounted for tragedies have occurred day-in and day-out. Several thousand Dafa practitioners have died from torture and abuse, many families have been torn apart and many healthy people became mentally traumatized. The following are several examples:

1. Ms. Liu Zhimei, a Qinghua University Student, Became Mentally Disoriented due to Torture

Ms. Liu Zhimei was from Sanqing Village, Tuanwang Township, Laiyang City, Shandong Province. In 1997, 17-year old Ms. Liu was recommended to study Chemical Engineering at Qinghua University, given that she had achieved the highest score in Shandong Province. While studying at Qinghua University Ms. Liu became a Falun Dafa practitioner. However, the CCP began to persecute Falun Dafa in 1999. Ms. Liu was arrested many times for not giving up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. In 2001, Qinghua University expelled Ms. Liu.

In May, 2001, Ms. Liu Zhimei was arrested while living in a rented house in Beijing. During her detention, she was brutally tortured and as a result her head and chest were injured and several of her fingernails were torn off. In November 2001, 22-year old Ms. Liu was sentenced to a 12-year prison term and was transferred to Shandong Women's Prison. From the end of 2002 to 2008, Ms. Liu was injected with unknown drugs daily, because, it was claimed, that she suffered from a “mental illness.” Around 2003 she truly became mentally disoriented. In November 2008 she was given an unknown drug because of a “hole in her teeth” three days before her release. Upon her release, Ms. Liu's relatives couldn’t find a hole in her teeth.

On the third day after she was released, Ms. Liu Zhimei suddenly became very disoriented and her condition worsened daily. She appeared restless and she no longer spoke coherently. She danced and moved her arms as if she were running. She suffered insomnia and some days she slept only two hours. She lost her memory, and couldn’t remember her age. She repeated the same sentence over and over. An outstanding Qinghua University student thus became mentally ill as a result of persecution by the CCP.

2. Mr. Guo Baoyang, a Student from Qingdao University Drugged and Mentally Disoriented

Mr. Guo Baoyang, 19, a student at the Qingdao Professional Technical School was arrested by police from Qingdao City and taken to the Shuiqinggou Police Station, Sifang Police Sub-bureau on April 2, 2010 because of clarifying the facts about Falun Dafa at a farmers' market. He was beaten until he lost consciousness, then given water that contained unknown drugs, making him mentally disoriented.

On the evening of April 3, Mr. Guo Baoyang was taken to the Dashan Detention Center in Qingdao, despite being unconscious. The guards at the Dashan Detention Center also tortured him. Besides putting unknown drugs in his water and food they forced him to smell gaseous substances, exposed him to deafening noises and dazzlingly bright light.

On April 10, Mr. Guo Baoyang was released after being held for 7 days. On returning home he remained mentally disoriented and suffered incontinence. He was not fully conscious, had a strong headache and behavioral problems. He tried to run against the wall or leap to his death several times a day. His mother was very worried and monitored him all the time.

It was learned later that the 610 Office of Qingdao City had planned to influence Mr. Guo Baoyang’s behavior through unknown drugs, which made him want to commit suicide or become mentally disoriented. They also arranged for reporters to watch him so they could publicize his suicide attempt. For example, police officers demanded that the Yongping Road Neighborhood Committee arrange for Lu Wentian, one of Mr. Gao's schoolmates to visit him. They told his schoolmate to talk him into committing suicide. One day, Lu Wentian said he wanted to take Mr. Guo for a walk. At the stairs to the fourth floor, Lu pushed a window open and said softly to Mr. Guo, “Jump down from here!” Since someone was approaching, his attempt failed. Then Lu Wentian asked Mr. Guo to relieve himself on top of an electric outlet in an attempt electrocute him. Luckily, Mr. Guo’s mother was always watching him, so the conspiracy failed.

3. Mr. Yang Baochun Suffered Mental Collapse after Being Incarcerated in Mental Hospitals Three Times

Mr. Yang Baochun was a practitioner from Jinhang Velvet Plant in Handan City, Hebei Province. After the CCP began to persecute Falun Dafa, Mr. Yang went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice. He was arrested and sentenced to 2 years of forced labor. In the winter of 2002, his right leg was amputated because of torture. The forced labor camp, to escape responsibility, took Mr. Yang to the Ankang Mental Hospital. The head of that hospital often added unknown drugs into his food, making him salivate and unable to speak clearly. His tongue was stiff and he had no strength.

In 2004, Mr. Yang's wife had to bribe people to get her husband released. He had been detained for nearly 4 years at the Ankang Hospital. In June, 2005, Mr. Yang went to Beijing to appeal for his right to be treated humanely. He was taken to the Yongkang Mental Hospital at the end of that year, tortured and given unknown drugs for more than two years. On the afternoon of February 17, 2008, Mr. Yang escaped from the mental hospital despite having just one leg.

At around 11 p.m. that day, the director of the Yongkang Mental Hospital and five or six doctors drove to the Yang family home and arrested Mr. Yang. It was the third time Mr. Yang was taken to the mental hospital. When he was released on January 20, 2009, his family found him to be so mentally disoriented that they had no other choice than to return him to the mental hospital for treatment.

During the 13 years of persecution of Falun Dafa by the CCP, many healthy practitioners have suffered mental collapse. It is impossible to ascertain the number of people that have been made mentally incompetent due to physical and mental torture, including forced drug administration. The CCP has lied over the years, telling the Chinese people that practicing Falun Dafa has made practitioners mentally ill. The facts dispute the CCP’s claims that people have become psychotic from practicing Falun Dafa. It is the CCP that has turned mentally sound practitioners into mental patients.

Once history turns a new page and the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa are revealed, people will be shocked.
