(Minghui.org) On October 10, 2013, the VIKKA TV station in Cherkasy, Ukraine, ran a special 6 o'clock news segment on the award-winning documentary, Free China: The Courage to Believe . Viewers were invited to attend a free local screening of the popular film.

“As China showcases its economic development to the world, the documentary, Free China: The Courage to Believe, debuts in Cherkasy,” said the news anchor. “The film reveals the torture, brainwashing, and political persecution that takes place inside the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) forced labor camps.

“In the film, [Dr. Charles Lee, a Chinese-American medical doctor and successful businessman] and [Jennifer Zheng, a former CCP member] were brutally persecuted for practicing Falun Gong and living by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The Chinese regime considers these principles the antithesis of the communist philosophy. Despite being severely tortured, Dr. Lee and Ms. Zheng chose not to renounce their belief.”

Andrey Volkov, who helped set up the screening of Free China , was interviewed in the report.

“The persecution that's going on in China's prisons, forced labor camps, and detention centers has sunk to a new, all-time low in terms of man's inhumanity to man,” explained Mr. Volkov. “Seeing this, many people feel that it is their moral responsibility to rigorously expose the Party's crimes against humanity.

“China is a relatively closed society, so it is often difficult to obtain information from inside China and deliver it abroad. The Party strictly controls the flow of information to and from China, be it the Internet, radio, TV, books, magazines, or newspapers. The film offers viewers a plethora of information, which will prove enlightening to Ukraine audiences.

“As the film explains, there exists a group of people in this chaotic world who are still conducting themselves according to traditional morals and values. All they're asking for is the freedom to practice their belief.”

The news anchor said that the film “reveals a completely different China than many people know, one unrelated to its economic development and advances.” He noted that the documentary hones in on “China's totalitarian regime and its ongoing brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

“The film also explores the CCP's illegal practice of forced organ harvesting from living, breathing human beings, for the purpose of organ transplantation. The film is produced by New Tang Dynasty Television, an international, independent media outlet, and US director Michael Perlman.

“Free China has won six international coveted awards and has been screened in the European Parliament, the U.S. Congress, and other national parliaments. The spirit of man's humanity is reflected in the exposé of a government that ceaselessly violates human rights. This is what we have enlightened to from seeing this documentary.”
