(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners are mainly handing out materials and exhibiting informational poster displays at tourist sites outside of China, rather than directly talking to them about Falun Gong and the persecution, and encouraging them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Master recently repeatedly said, “listening to the truth” at the recent “Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference.”
Master made many statements relative to this issue:
“And it’s not just this, of course. There are also a great many evil factors behind people, as well as evil factors even inside of people’s bodies, controlling them and preventing them from listening to the truth.”
“Such a massive group of people are in a state unbefitting human beings, and it is impacting their ability to hear the truth. It’s dangerous.”
“I affirm all Dafa disciple projects, as all of them can have an effect in clarifying the truth and saving people. But, now there are so many tourist groups, and many of the tourists from mainland China, in particular, have not managed to hear the truth.”
“When someone heads abroad [from China], well, since he isn’t able to hear the truth while in China, isn’t he being directed to go overseas so that he can learn the truth? You can’t abandon these people. We must still do a good job of clarifying the truth at the tourist sites in each region.”
“But if you contaminate or corrupt your surface-level thoughts; if you are attached to something; or if your head is filled with evil things from modern society, with the wicked Party’s lies of the persecution, or with negative thoughts owing to the deceitful propaganda of the persecution, then it will block you from hearing the truth that Dafa disciples tell you, and cause you to miss the opportunity to be saved.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
Listening Corresponds with Speaking
Master didn't talk about handing out literature so people can learn the truth. He emphasized, “listening to the truth.” Listening corresponds with speaking. So, I think that practitioners who are at the tourist sites should talk to people about Falun Gong and the persecution.
“Then does it mean there is nothing a person can do about it? He can do something about it. How so? The brain in this surface dimension, when acting together with one’s master soul, does have the ability to take charge in forming and expressing one’s surface-level thoughts, and this includes directing one’s actions. Before an idea comes forth, what you choose is key. It should also be noted that all lives in the cosmos were made by the Fa, and were assimilated to it. But if you contaminate or corrupt your surface-level thoughts; if you are attached to something; or if your head is filled with evil things from modern society, with the wicked Party’s lies of the persecution, or with negative thoughts owing to the deceitful propaganda of the persecution, then it will block you from hearing the truth that Dafa disciples tell you, and cause you to miss the opportunity to be saved.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
In the quote above Master said, “...there is nothing a person can do about it?”
I enlightened that we can tell people the truth.

What Practitioners Can Do
What practitioners can do is to clarify the truth, to help sentient beings remove the lies instilled in them by the CCP, and thus give them the opportunity to make the best choice for themselves and be saved.
Attachment to Saving Face
Of course, it is very important to display posters and give tourists printed information. Practitioners should mutually cooperate, and share the different jobs. Practitioners who pass out fliers and set up the displays have ample opportunity to speak with tourists as well. There are no conflicts in handling multiple tasks. Some practitioners have said, “I'm cooperating by setting up posters, let others clarify the truth.” Actually, they are blocked by postnatal notions and are making excuses to shirk their responsibility. This is often related to the attachment to saving face. It is particularly evident among highly educated practitioners.
Scholarly Dignity and Reserve
In China, traditionally-educated scholars, particularly in the older generation, are reserved by nature, and protective of their honor and dignity. Of course, there are historical reasons for this. There are a few quotes in the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party, that illustrate its origin in history.
“Scholars would continue the tradition of 'risking their lives to admonish the monarch,' and 'maintaining justice at the expense of their lives,' and place the people above the rulers. Traditional Notions Block Truth Clarification
The traditional Chinese intelligentsia upholds this kind of traditional value system, causing them to remain aloof from worldly matters and reserved in nature. This kind of aloofness and reserved nature has positive aspects. Others will regard them as respectable people who are careful in their speech and tolerant under all kinds of circumstances. But they are shy about clarifying the truth. From the perspective of cultivation, these traditional notions hinder practitioners from explaining the truth, and are thus preventing sentient beings from hearing the truth. This is true for the younger generation of scholars as well, particularly if they are born into a scholarly family.
Natural Eloquence of Scholarly Practitioners
When speaking in private with some of these highly educated practitioners, young and old alike, one will find that their knowledge is abundant, their thinking nimble, and their speech eloquent. But as soon as they encounter strangers, it is difficult for them to speak, they equivocate and their speech is far from their true ability.
Even though their language skills are one of their strong points, they are not able to utilize it when saving sentient beings. It is such a pity. I really hope these practitioners can discard these postnatally-acquired notions and give free rein to their natural abilities. We have reason and grounds to clarify the truth. If we sincerely and kindly talk to people, they will respect the sophistication of Falun Dafa practitioners. People will then be able withdraw from the CCP, and be saved. The Fa will be rectified.
I felt that Master was very direct and clear in his Fa lecture. There is not much that practitioners need to enlighten to. We just need to carry it out.
I hope that practitioners inside and outside of China are able to tell people about Falun Gong and the persecution, and go to the tourist spots if they have time. If their time is limited, I hope they can squeeze in a little bit and go there and honor the divine vows that they made prehistorically.
Finally, I hope that my fellow practitioners can find encouragement in Master's poem below (“Hurry Up And Tell Them” from Hong Yin Vol. II) :
“As Dafa disciples clarify the truth
Sharp swords shoot forth from their mouths
Tearing open the rotten demons’ lies
Lose no time and save them, hurry up and tell them”
