(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Han Chunlong from Shenyang City was illegally arrested on December 11, 2012. He was interrogated and tortured. As a result of the abuse, he lost hearing in both his ears. He began a hunger strike after being sent to the Dandong No. 1 Detention Center. He was tied to a death bed and force-fed. One of his legs became severely swollen from the beatings, and he developed a limp. His chest and back hurt terribly. He is now in critical condition and in danger of losing his life.

Mr. Han and his colleague, Mr. Chen Xinye, were arrested on December 11, 2012, at the Dantie Hotel in Dandong City while they were on a business trip. Both work for the Optical Spectrometer Service Center in Shenyang City. Mr. Chen is a department manager, while Mr. Han is in charge of purchasing and driving.

The arrests took place at around 10:00 a.m. About seven officers from the Dandong City Domestic Security Division, Zhenxing District Police Department, and Sidaoqiao Police Station broke into their room at the hotel. They arrested and took Mr. Han and Mr. Chen to the Sidaoqiao Police Station. They also confiscated two laptop computers, two cell phones, wallets, cash, bank cards, and other personal belongings. They provided no list of the taken items, as is required by law.

At the Sidaoqiao Police Station, officers claimed that the Internet police had detected that Mr. Han and Mr. Chen had sent emails “promoting Falun Gong” and tried to pressure them to confess. Since the practitioners had done nothing wrong, they refused to cooperate or confess to anything. The police became angry and tried to force the men to put their thumbprints on the documents that contained fabricated confessions. Mr. Han and Mr. Chen refused to cooperate. Two officers then began to beat and slap Mr. Chen.

About seven officers ganged up to brutally beat Mr. Han. Officer Zhang Wei slapped him and pushed him down. He then sprayed Mr. Han's face with choking toxic mist, which caused Mr. Han great pain and to cough non-stop. In addition, Mr. Han lost his hearing after being hit in the head.

During the beatings, the police officers grabbed Mr. Han's hand and took his thumbprint. Afterward, they took Mr. Han and Mr. Chen to the Dandong No. 1 Detention Center. At that time, Mr. Han's blood pressure was 191 mmHg, and his heart rate was 130 beats per minute.

Mr. Han began a hunger strike to protest the persecution. When two lawyers from Beijing met with Mr. Han in the detention center on December 17, 2012, he described to them the details of his arrest and the torture he was subjected to while being interrogated.

Mr. Han was subjected to even more severe torture beginning on December 18. His hands and feet were cuffed to a metal ring, his arms and legs were spread apart and even cuffed during sleep so that he was unable to move, he was force-fed three times a day with the plastic tube left inserted through his nostril, and a catheter was inserted and left in place around the clock. One of his legs was obviously swollen, and he couldn't walk. His chest and back pained him greatly. He also suffered from high blood pressure.

Lawyer Dong Qianyong went to meet with Mr. Han again on January 9, 2013. A female officer told him that because Mr. Han couldn't move, he couldn't meet with the lawyer. Lawyer Dong made adamant demands, and after several setbacks, he was allowed to meet with Mr. Han after 11:00 a.m. He saw two detainees carry Mr. Han out, with a plastic tube dangling from his nostril. Leftovers from force-feedings covered his body. Mr. Han was so weak that he seemed to have only one breath left. During the meeting, Mr. Han breathed shallowly. He told the lawyer that he was confused. Even though Mr. Han was obviously too weak to move, he was handcuffed during the entire meeting.

Ever since Mr. Han Chunlong and Mr. Chen Xinye's arrests, Falun Gong practitioners have been clarifying the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution to officers participating in the persecution. The practitioners' families and people of justice from all walks of life have continued to appeal, and upright lawyers have also communicated with the officers involved from the a legal and moral standpoint, pointing out that their arrests of Falun Gong practitioners was an abuse of power, seriously violates the law, and goes against morality and justice.

However, the practitioners' families were told on January 10, 2013, that the Zhenxing District police, Procuratorate, and court, as well as Sidaoqiao Police Station, are scrambling to gather materials and “evidence” in an attempt to prosecute and sentence the two men.

Mr. Han is still on a hunger strike, and his life is in jeopardy. Mr. Han's family has filed a complaint with the appropriate departments in Dandong City, asking that the allegations against Mr. Han be revoked, that he be immediately released, and that the law officers involved be punished.

We once again appeal to the international community and people of justice to help to stop the persecution. We most sincerely hope that all those who have participated in the persecution of Mr. Han Chunlong and Mr. Chen Xinye will no longer be tempted by fame and fortune and forget their conscience. They should not have any illusions about the CCP and risk their lives by following the regime in doing evil deeds. Please cherish this opportunity and leave a way out for yourselves!
