(Minghui.org) Police illegally arrested Ms. Zhao Chunxia in Baarin Left Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, in June 2012. They then arrested her husband, Mr. Jia Bin, in December. Officers ransacked the couple's home and confiscated their personal belongings. Ms. Zhou was detained for six months, and was only released after Mr. Jia's arrest.
Mr. Jia's family said the arrest violated the Chinese Constitution, criminal law and proper police conduct. They appealed for Mr. Jia's unconditional and immediate release, as well as return of his personal belongings and compensation for property damage and mental and physical abuse. The family plans to sue officers Gao Yanguo, Wang Lixin, Tian Licheng, Li Hongzhu, and Gao Shujun, calling for the investigation into their criminal conduct.
Wife Arrested, Mr. Jia Forced to Flee
On June 4, 2012, Gao Yanguo and Wang Lixin from the Baarin 610 Office and Tian Licheng, Li Hongzhu and Gao Shujun from the Domestic Security Division of the Baarin Police Department searched the couple's home and confiscated their computer, printer, 14,000 yuan in cash, and other personal belongings worth at least 20,000 yuan.
Their initial intention was to arrest Mr. Jia. Since he happened to be out of the house, they proceeded to arrest his wife, Ms. Zhao, instead. Mr. Jia was then forced to stay out of town to avoid arrest.
Three Children Without Support
The couple's eldest daughter, who is in college, as well as their 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son, were left without financial support. The kids' grandparents, who are in their 70s, had to step in to take care of the kids but didn't have enough money for all of the expenses, such as college tuition.
The three children appealed to the public and authorities on the morning of August 14, 2012. Each wore a banner that said, “I want my mother. I need food.” They also held a big board that read, “Our mother was arrested for practicing Falun Gong. Our father's whereabouts are unknown. All of our money was seized by the police. We are homeless.” They walked along the streets of Lindong Town and walked to the Baarin government building.
Captain of Domestic Security Division Tian Licheng, instructor Li Hongzhu, officer Gao Shujun and another 30-plus officers and several police cars circled the three kids, grabbed their boards, tore up their banners, and dragged them into the police office inside the building. The kids cried and huddled together.
The officers took turns to have lunch, but did not offer any food or water to the kids.
The kids' uncle heard about the incident after 5 p.m. and came for the kids. Tian said he could only take home the younger two, but not the eldest one. Only after the uncle's persistent requests did the police finally release all three kids.
Tian Licheng and Li Hongzhu showed the uncle a statement, claiming that it was the promise from Ms. Zhao's parents, complete with their fingerprints, of raising the three kids. However, Ms. Zhao's parents had never met Tian or Li. They were very angry upon hearing about this lie, calling the police “shameless.”
Mr. Jia Arrested
Gong Chuanxing, director of Domestic Security Division of the Aohan Banner Police Department, and a dozen plainclothes officers arrested practitioners who were helping locals install satellite dishes to watch New Tang Dynasty Television programs in Huanghuadianzi Village, Wulan Township, Aohan Banner, on December 21, 2012. The practitioners were Ms. Bao Wenju, Mr. Bao Wenrong, Mr. Ma Xiaoguang, Mr. Wang Xiufeng, Mr. Qi Bin, Mr. Wang Zhigang, Mr. Lan Guangfei, and Mr. Jia. Their driver, Mr. Chen Zhiyong, was arrested at the same time.
All of them were subsequently released except Mr. Jia. He was incarcerated at the Aohan Detention Center. The Lindong Procuratorate later approved his arrest. His wife, Ms. Zhao, was released on January 25, 2013, after his arrest was approved.
