Additional Persecution News from China – March 22, 2013 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in ten provinces. According to this report, 25 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cui Jingrong Held in Dongling Prison in Shenyang City

Mr. Cui Jingrong from Yi County, Jinzhou City, was secretly taken to the 8^th Ward of Dongling Prison in Shenyang City on December 28, 2012. He has now been transferred to the 2^nd Ward.

2. [Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Xiao Jing Detained

Three officers from the Yiwu City State Security Bureau arrested Ms. Xiao Jing at her booth on the afternoon of March 16, 2013. She was taken to the Yiwu City Detention Center. Her computer used for her business was confiscated.

Ms. Xiao Jing, 39, is from Xiushui County, Jiangxi Province. She and her husband had set up a booth and were running a small business in Yiwu City. Ms. Xiao was earlier arrested by officers from the Yiwu City Police Department in 2009 and was held in Hangzhou Women's Prison in Zhejiang Province for three years. She was released in July 2012.

3. [Guangdong Province] Mr. Wang Baocheng, Director of Guangdong Property Management Bureau, Held in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province

4. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Luo Meng Harassed

Ms. Luo Meng is from Xinglong Town, Guanghan City. Since her release from a forced labor camp, officers from the local police station have come to her home and harassed her many times. Officers from the Xinglong Town Police Station also went to her parents' and relatives' homes many times to harass her. Ms. Luo had no choice but to leave her home.

5. [Jianyang City, Sichuan Province] Six Practitioners including Ms. Wang Hongxia Brought to Trial

Ms. Wang Hongxia was arrested in March, 2011. The Sichuan Domestic Security Division authorities held her in the Xinjin Brainwashing Center for three months. After that, she was sent to Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp for a term of 18 months. She is now due to be released. But Party secretary Tang Yongliang from the Ziyang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and others are continuing to persecute Ms. Wang, along with Mr. Ye Jianguo from Anyue City, Mr. Du Zhongxuan from the Jiangjin District in Chongqing, Ms. Wang Ying, Ms. Diao Qixiu, Ms. Cao Shuping from Jianyang City, and Mr. Ma Daiheng. Jianyang City Court tried and sentenced them on March 19. Another five practitioners--Mr. Li Yong, Mr. Wu Bangrong, Ms. Wang Li, Ms. Feng Li, and Ms. Peng Xiuhua--were assigned to a different case.

6. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Shuqin, in her 80s, to be Tried

Ms. Yang Shuqin from Guangzhou City, in her 80s, was taken to the local police station by officers from the Yuexiu District Police Department in Guangzhou City on March 24, 2012 ,for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Her family found a guarantor for her, pending trial, because of her advanced age. It was recently discovered that the Yuexiu District Court in Guangzhou City will try Ms.Yang on April 3, 2013.

7. [Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Zhilin Detained

Mr. Zhang Zhilin from Wafangdian City was arrested by three officers from the Gongji Police Station in Wafangdian City on the morning of March 20, 2013, for handing out informational materials about Falun Gong. He was taken to the Supervision Team of Wafangdian Police Department that afternoon.

8. [Qu County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wu Shaojun Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

Mr. Wu Shaojun from Tianxing Town, Qu County, was taken to a detention center by officers from the Qu County Police Department on August 21, 2012. Officers confiscated his computer, DVD burner, books, cell phone, and other items from his home. Mr. Wu is now sentenced to six years in prison.

9. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Seven Practitioners including Ms. Liu Yanrong Facing Trial

Over 20 days have passed since an indictment was issued to seven practitioners held in the Liaoyang City Detention Center, including Ms. Liu Yangrong, Ms. Sheng Xiuqin and Ms. An Yongzhi. According to Chinese laws, the court can convene at any time if an indictment has been issued within at least ten days.

10. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Qiang Mengsheng Arrested

Mr. Qiang Mengsheng from Taiyin Village, Gaojia Town, Weibin District, Baoji City, was arrested in Taiyin Village by officers from the Weibin District Police Department Precinct and the Gaojia Village Police Station on the afternoon of Mach 21, 2013.

11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Yang Junfeng Held in Local Police Department for Almost a Month

Mr. Yang Junfeng from Jilin City was tricked by local officers into going to the local police department on February 27, 2013. He hasn't returned home yet.

12. [Huaiyang County, Henan Province] Arrests Attempted on Mr. Zhao Zirong and Ms. Zhang Li; Their Homes Ransacked

A group of officers barged into Mr. Zhao Zirong's home on the afternoon of March 14, 2013. They rummaged through chests and cupboards and confiscated Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly, and MP3 players. Mr. Zhao was taken to a detention center.

Three strong men, claiming they were from an anti-riot squad, barged into Ms. Zhang Li's home in Sunzhuang Village, Sumazhuang Production Team Community, Chengguan Town, on the afternoon of May 19, 2013. They confiscated 11,500 yuan in cash, a photo of Falun Gong's founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, and six DVDs. Ms. Zhang Li managed to escape.

13. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Hong Passed Away

Ms. Zhang Hong is from the Beidasuliao Residential Area, Shiyingdong, Guta District, Jinzhou City. Ten years ago when officers knocked on her door and attempted to arrest her and ransack her home, she tried to escape through the window. She accidentally fell from the high building and now suffers from high-paraplegia. Officers continued to harass her many times after that and caused her great anguish. Ms. Zhang was not able to take care of herself and passed away on December 29, 2012.

14. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jiang Shumei and Five Other Practitioners Arrested

An officer barged into Ms. Xue Guiyun's home during lunchtime on March 20, 2013, when practitioners in Huadian City were sharing experiences in Ms. Xue's home. The officer called in a police vehicle and arrested Ms. Jiang Shumei, Ms. Li Hongyu, Ms. Tong Shuhua, Mr. Li Haijun, Ms. Xue Guiyun, and Ms. Xiaofang.

15. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Qiuxia Detained

Ms. Wang Qiuxia, 57, from Acheng District was arrested at home on March, 20, 2013. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center.

16. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Luan Huagang and His Wife Tried in Court

The Tiedong Court in Anshan City tried Mr. Luan Huagang and his wife, Ms. Liu Dezhen, on March 20, 2013. Relatives except immediate family were not allow to be present. The couple said in court that practicing Falun Gong is legal. Two lawyers defended the couple. Judges and the prosecutor had to end the session after hearing the defense pleas, knowing that they had no evidence to convict the couple.

Mr. Luan and his wife were arrested on their way home in November 2012, by officers including Li Yuguang from the Xinxing Police Station. When Mr. Luan attempted to get away, officers chased him and hussled him into their car, and violently beat him. The couple were taken to the Xinxing Police Station. Officers tried to extorted 6,000 yuan from the couple, who refused to give it. Officers then beat the couple brutally and tortured them until 2:30 a.m. . They then took the couple to a detention center.

17. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Guo Xiaojian Arrested in 2012

Ms. Guo Xiaojian from Hefei City is in her 40s. It is now confirmed that she was arrested last year during the period of 18^th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. Her current situation is unknown.

18. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Liangyuan and His Wife Detained

Mr. Wang Liangyuan and his wife, Ms. Wang Guirong, from the Shengli Oil Extraction Factory of Shengli Oil Fields were taken to the Shengcai Brainwashing Center by officers from the Binbei Police Department Precinct and the Domestic Security Division on the evening of March 4, 2013. They are still being held there. Their children went to the center to visit, but the brainwashing center authorities would not allow them to see their parents.

The couple's home in Shengrong Residential Quarters was ransacked on the morning of March 5, 2013. Two printers, a DVD burner, a computer, and other items were confiscated.
