Additional Persecution News from China – April 19, 2013 (20 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in ten provinces. In the report, nine Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Tianjin] Ms. Ping Yurong Tortured in Tianjin Women's Prison

Ms. Ping Yurong has been cruelly tortured in the Tianjin Women's Prison for five years. She is now in extremely poor health. Her lungs started accumulating fluid, and 1,500 milliliters of fluid was drained from her lungs. She has a low-grade fever. She walks slowly, dragging her feet. She looks pale, emaciated, with glassy eyes. Her family requested her release, but the prison authorities turned it down.

2. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Haihong Severely Tortured Recently

Ms. Wang Haihong was sentenced to three years in prison for translating Falun Gong books including Zhuan Falun. She has been held in the Guangdong Provincial Women's Prison. Recently, she was badly tortured, which caused her to have very poor health and develop severe sickness symptoms. Every day, she was forced to undergo brainwashing. She was once coerced into slandering Falun Gong on a TV program, which she refused. She was penalized for that and prison authorities now do not allow her family to visit her with various excuses.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wei Zhihong and Two Other Practitioners Sent to Prison

Ms. Wei Zhihong, Ms. Xu Changlan and Ms. Cong Yingri were arrested by officers from the Paoyazi Police Station for distributing Shen Yun show DVDs in Ganjingzi District, Dalian City on April 19, 2012. They were sent to the Yaojia Detention Center.

Three practitioners were sent to the Liaoning Provincial Women's Prison on March 19, 2013, all for three years of forced labor.

4. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiang Fengyu Sent to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Jiang Fengyu from Nianzishan District, Qiqihar City was tricked by agents from the Village Committee and went to the committee office on April 16, 2013. She was then arrested by officers who had been there waiting for her. Ms. Jiang was taken to the Fuqiang Police Department Precinct.

Ms. Jiang was recently transferred to a brainwashing center.

5. [Zoucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Fuying and Ms. Chen Shouying Detained

Ms. Jiang Fuying and Ms. Chen Shouying from Zoucheng City were taken to the Taiping Town Police Station in Zoucheng City for distributing Shen Yun show DVDs on the afternoon of April 16, 2013. They are being held in the Zoucheng City Detention Center.

6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Chen Huijun Arrested

Mr. Chen Huijun from Juyuan Town, Dujiangyan City put an informational DVD about Falun Gong into a police vehicle parked on the street on the morning of February 23, 2013. Officers near the vehicle saw it and took him to the police station. He was released that day.

7. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Yushu Arrested

Ms. Chen Yushu from Juyuan Town, Dujiangyan City was taken to the police station by a few plainclothes officers for distributing Shen Yun show DVDs on the morning of April 17, 2013. Her home was ransacked.

8. [Huangshi, Hubei Province] Ms. Peng Wenling Severely Persecuted

Ms. Peng Wenling from Huangshi City was arrested in early May, 2012 for explaining the facts about Falun Gong in her hometown of Xinzhou. She is being held in the Luotian County No.2 Detention Center.

9. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Mr. Hu, His Wife and Ms. Tong Arrested

Mr. Hu, his wife, and Ms. Tong from Zunhua City were arrested by officers from the Zunhua Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of April 15, 2013. Mr. Hu was released. Mr. Hu's wife and Ms. Tong are being held in the Zunhua Brainwashing Center.

10. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Baoli Persecuted in Prison

Ms. Zhao Baoli from Chengde City was sent to the Hebei Provincial Women's Prison in 2011, and has been persecuted in the No.14 ward. In March 2013, she was transferred to No.13 ward, where she was subjected to brainwashing for 20 hours a day, and was allowed to sleep for only four hours. Family visits are not allowed.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Guilan and Three Others Arrested

Officers from the Wukeshu Police Station in Yushu City and the Domestic Security Division barged into Ms. Wang Guilan's home on the evening of April 17, 2013, and arrested Ms. Wang Guilan, Ms. Zhang Xiaofei, Ms. Li Chunjie and Ms. Zhang Xingrong. Ms. Wang's home was ransacked and four practitioners were sent to a detention center. Ms. Zhang Xingrong was frightened and passed out. She was rushed to a hospital and then released. Three other practitioners were detained for a term of 15 days.

12. [Chongqing] Mr. Liu Banghe Arrested

Mr. Liu Banghe, about 60, is from Yangjiao Town, Wulong County, Chongqing. He was arrested at home by officers from the local police station around June, 2012. His whereabouts are still unknown.

13. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Xiang Taonu Held in Detention Center

Ms. Xiang Taonu from Kunshan was followed and arrested on the afternoon of April 10, 2013 for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to the public. She was held in the Zhonghuayuan Police Station in Kunshan Development Zone and transferred to the Kunshan Detention Center the next day.

14. [Huarong County, Hunan Province] Ms. Yan Congxi Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Yan Congxi from Huarong County, Yueyang City was arrested in March, 2012 for talking about Falun Gong. The Huarong County Court sentenced her to three years in prison in 2013. Ms. Yan was taken to the No.6 Ward, Hunan Provincial Women's Prison in Changsha City.

15. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Liping Arrested

Ms. Wang Liping from Yueyang City was arrested and her store was searched by seven or eight officers from the Lou District Domestic Security Division and Sanyanqiao Police Station in Yueyang City on the morning of April 18, 2013, when she was working in her store. Ms. Wang's whereabouts are unknown.

16. [Zhuolu County, Hebei Province] Ms. Song Yinglin Arrested

Ms. Song Yinglin, in her 50s, is from Sanbao Village, Wubao Township, Zhuolu County. She was recently arrested by agents from the Zhuolu County Domestic Security Division and the Zhuolu 610 Office. Ms. Song is being held in the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province.

17. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shi Wenzhuo Persecuted

Mr. Shi Wenzhuo is 50 years old. He was arrested by Domestic Security Division chief Dong Ping, Wang Haohong and others on May, 30, 2012, for giving a Shen Yun show DVD to Dong Ping. He was sentenced to four years in prison on March 11, 2013, and was sent to the Jilin Prison on April 11, 2013.

Mr. Shi had just spent nine years in prison and was released on November 10, 2011.

18. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Yuyuan Arrested

Ms. Chen Yuyuan from Hanshan District, Handan City, 75 years old, was arrested in the Hebei University of Engineering on the morning of April 18, 2013. Her home was ransacked and a computer, a printer, some printing consumables and informational materials about Falun Gong were confiscated. Ms. Chen is being held in the Kaiyuan Police Station.

Mr. Wang Shenghua from Wifang City was arrested on April 15, 2013. He is being held in the Weifang City Detention Center.

Mr. Wu Huaihong, 59 years old, was arrested by officers from the Dongsheng Police Station in Haidian District on December 7, 2012 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Haidian District, Beijing. He is being held in the Haidian District Detention Center for an extended term.
