(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Meiling was arrested and sent to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, in April 2012 for handing out Shen Yun DVDs. She was forced to do slave labor for more than 10 hours a day. She was brutally tortured, causing her hypertension and diabetes to relapse. Even when her blood sugar level reached a high of 26.7, the guards still forced her to work in the workshop. She is now critically ill.

Becoming a practitioner

Ms. Wang, 51, is from Dawanling Village, Lijingpu Township, Ningxiang County, Hunan Province. She used to suffer from hypertension, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach distress, a gynecological disease, and other ailments. She was miserable. Then someone recommended Falun Gong to her. After she watched a video of Master Li's lectures, she felt light and was very happy and relaxed. She was given a copy of Zhuan Falun and practiced from then on. Her illnesses disappeared without treatment soon after. Her gratitude to Master Li was beyond words.

Defending Falun Gong

Ms. Wang knew that Falun Gong had given her a new life. After the Jiang regime began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, she firmly and despite pressure retained her conscience and told people, “Falun Dafa is good.” She was once held by Liu Shiqiang and other officers from the Ningxiang 610 Office. She was harassed and monitored for a long time by officers from the Lijingpu 610 Office.

On March 8, 2012, Ms. Wang visited relatives in Oujiangcha Town, Yiyang, Hunan Province. There she was reported when she was handing out DVDs of the 2012 Shen Yun show. She was taken to the Yiyang Second Detention Center by officers from the Oujiangcha Police Station. After being detained for 15 days, she was sentenced to one year of forced labor by the Haoshan District Police Department of Yiyang, the Yiyang Forced Labor Committee, and the Yiyang 610 Office.

Labor camp quotas

At the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Wang was forced to do slave labor. The camp workshop was organized into four production lines. About 20 detainees were assigned to each line. Their task was making computer data cables. The detainees worked from 6:30 a.m. to six or seven in the evening. No dinner was provided until they finished their daily quota. Sometimes they were forced to work all night. Ms. Wang was forced to package the cables. She had to package 1,600 to 1,800 cables each day.

Repercussions from overwork

This intense labor day after day ruined Ms. Wang's health. Her hypertension symptoms returned, and she often fainted. When this happened, the camp clinic gave her intravenous injections to revive her, and she was immediately sent back to work. Since detainees had only cold showers, Ms. Wang coughed and often had a fever as high as 104. She was very weak, but was still forced to work. Zhu Lixin and two other collaborators constantly yelled obscenities at her.

In the middle of December 2012, Ms. Wang had severe symptoms caused by diabetes: vomiting, abdominal distention, and heart pain. She did not have a bowel movement for four days. On December 17, 2012, her hands turned purple and black. Her blood sugar level rose to 26.7, which is far higher than normal. She should have been hospitalized immediately. This was a life-threatening situation. Previously, the camp clinic gave her some “blood pressure-reducing medication.” As a result, she vomited and experienced abdominal distention and other side effects. So Ms. Wang refused to take the camp medications anymore.

When informed that Ms. Wang refused to take the medication provided by the camp, Long Liyun, deputy chief of the No. 7 Division, announced, “If she doesn't take the medication, she has to watch the videos (that slander Falun Gong).” He accused her of “pretending.” He said to her, “You will take the medication in the workshop tomorrow. I want to see whether or not you vomit.” Ms. Wang was forced to watch the video programs defaming Falun Gong until 1 a.m. that night.

The next night Long Liyue and more than a dozen guards shouted obscenities at Ms. Wang, did not allow her any sleep, and forced her to take the drugs. Ms. Wang was tortured the whole night. She became greatly emaciated. Her forehead felt hot to the touch and she experienced dizziness. The next day she was forced to work the usual hours. When she became ill and her blood sugar rose to 26.7, the guards worried that she would die in the workshop and they would bear responsibility. They dispatched four detainees to watch her and report as soon as her condition became critical.

On public occasions, Chinese Communist Party spokesmen often deny that forced labor camps enslave detainees to manufacture products. Ms. Wang was inhumanly tortured in the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp for almost a year. She could testify from personal experience how dark and brutal a Chinese forced labor camp is. She could tell how the camp guards used any means to enslave detainees as cheap labor in order to exploit profits to the maximum. She had seen how camp guards had lost their conscience.

The camp guards instigated Zhu Lixin and two other collaborators to attack, insult, and curse Ms. Wang. They didn't allow her to dry her clothes. Ms. Wang often wore wet and dirty clothes. They didn't allow her to talk to other Falun Gong practitioners. One day, a guard yelled obscenities at her because she said a few words to another practitioner. The guard also threatened the other practitioner that her family would not be allowed to visit her if she talked to Ms. Wang again.

Ms. Wang was released before the 2013 Chinese New Year. Although she is now home, she has been severely damaged both physically and mentally.
