Ms. Li Jianzhen from Shandong Province Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Li Jianzhen, 53, from Wendeng City, Weihai City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to three years in prison by the Wendeng Court on November 14, 2014, for handing out Falun Gong informational materials.

Ms. Li's daughter cried when she heard the sentence. She had quit her job in order to focus on trying to rescue her mother. She repeatedly presented the facts about Falun Gong to officers involved in her mother's case. She held a banner in front of the court to call public attention to the unlawful trial.

Ms. Li's husband, Liu Zhongping, was detained by police officer Li Benhai for seven days, after he called an officer to complain about his wife's illegal detention.
