(Minghui.org) Mr. Sun Zhongren, 65, a disabled Falun Gong practitioner, lives in Dandong City, Liaoning Province. He was illegally arrested by local officers at home on November 25, 2013, and his home was ransacked. He was issued an official arrest warrant in early December 2013 and his family hired a lawyer for him.

Arrest, Threats and Illness Symptoms

As his wife Ms. Fan Yuqin was about to go out on the afternoon of November 25, 2013, three plainclothes officers, Hu Depeng, Jia Hongye, and Wang Huibi, from the Xianwei Police Station broke into their home on Taoyuan Street in the Zhenxing District. They neither presented a warrant or showed any identification. They arrested Mr. Sun, Ms. Fan, and his non-practitioner son Mr. Sun Jiao who had just returned home from work, and they took them to the Xianwei Police Station.

The officers confiscated his son's laptop, once computer, 800 yuan in cash and Falun Gong books. More than half of the bills had Falun Gong truth clarification information written on them.

Jin Qiao, director of the police station, interrogated Ms. Fan about the bills and threatened to take her to a detention center unless she provided the requested information.

Mr. Sun’s daughter Ms. Sun Meixia, who went immediately to the police station after she was told about the arrest, was not allowed to see her family. She was told to leave around 7 p.m.

Jin called her at 10 p.m. and asked her to return to the police station quickly. On arrival she found her mother in a poor health condition, complaining of her heart hurting and nausea. Ms. Fan was taken home, but was told she had to come back the next day. Her daughter brought her back the next day.

The officers took pictures of Mr. Sun and his wife Ms. Fan before they took them to a hospital for physical examinations. Ms. Fan was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Lawyer Hired to Make Not Guilty Plea

Mr. Sun and Ms. Fan were taken to a detention center around 10 p.m. on November 26, 2013, while their son was released. The detention center refused to accept Ms. Fan because of her high blood pressure and released her. Mr. Sun is being held at the detention center.

The family, including Mr. Sun's brother tried to find out about Mr. Sun between December 5 and 10, without success. The police claimed that Mr. Sun’s case had been submitted to the Procuratorate and no one could see him.

Mr. Sun’s son was informed on December 15 that his father wanted to hire a lawyer.

A lawyer was hired to plead not guilty on behalf of Mr. Sun on December 30, 2013. The lawyer and Mr. Sun’s family went to the detention center to see Mr. Sun.

The police claimed that Mr. Sun gave damaging information and the proof was in a video. They also threatened to detain Ms. Fan again.
