(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gong Xiaojuan, 51, was tried in the Changji Prefecture Court on April 29, 2014, after she had been detained for more than a year. Family members were not allowed to sit in the courtroom.
Ms. Gong's attorney pleaded not guilty on her behalf, but he was interrupted repeatedly by presiding judge Wang Jiangli. The judge also ignored anything the attorney asked for during the trial. She announced that she would pronounce the sentence at a later date.
Repeatedly Arrested and Framed
Ms. Gong, a teacher at the Changji Teacher's College, had been forced to leave her post several times since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. She had been repeatedly detained, sent to a brainwashing center, and her home ransacked.
Ms. Gong was arrested at work by the 610 Office on April 11, 2013, and taken to the Changji Detention Center. She was a mathematics instructor at the college at the time of the arrest.
She had been monitored by the Changji City police for a year prior to the arrest.
The Changji City Domestic Security Division fabricated documents to frame Ms. Gong. The Changji City Procuratorate received the forged documents on July 16, 2013, and the indictment was sent to the Changji Court on August 31. The court returned the case for insufficient evidence.
The Changji City Political and Legal Affairs Committee was willing to release Ms. Gong, but they didn't want to take the responsibility. They sent her documents to the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Procuratorate and High Court for approval.
She was not released because they have been heavily focused on persecuting practitioners. They returned the documents to Changji Court, which scheduled her trial for April 29, 2014.
