(Minghui.org) Laoxizi is famous for his stubbornness. If someone says east, he says west. If someones says it is cold, he says it is hot. He also thinks the weather reports are a bunch of rubbish.
Laoxizi has his good points as well. He is kind and likes to help victims of injustice. We've worked together for over 10 years. We understand one another well and have a good relationship. Laoxizi has his own understanding of things and whenever there is an inspection at work, his bosses give him the day off, for fear that he will tell the truth.
Laoxizi was too frightened and confused to be obstinate when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spread lies about Falun Gong, and started the persecution on July 20, 1999. Even he didn't dare to speak out.
Laoxizi Frightened When Body Searched During My Second Arrest
I traveled to Tiananmen Square with other practitioners during the winter of 2000, to hang Falun Gong banners. When I arrived, I shouted loudly, “Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good! Our Master is innocent!” I was handcuffed, illegally arrested and taken to the local police station by deputy chief Bai of the economics and security section from my work unit.
Laoxizi didn't know that I had been arrested when I was taken to the police station for a second time. He went to visit me and discovered that two police officers were searching my home. They interrogated and searched him. Laoxizi, who wasn't afraid of anything, was terribly frightened. It has stayed fresh in his memory after many years.
Laoxizi's Attitude Gradually Changed
I was destitute and homeless for three years. I returned to work in the spring of 2005, and was on Laoxizi's work team. I told him about Falun Gong and the persecution, but he didn't want to listen. He put on his glasses, read from the Selected Works of Mao Zedong and spoke to me in the direction of his bosses.
I let some time pass and then told him that Falun Gong had spread throughout the world, and that my physical and mental health improved after practicing it. He knew that I lived according to the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,' that I was impartial and fair at work, that I wasn't corrupt, didn't take other people's things, kept improving in my work, and made outstanding achievements. I was generally recognized as a good person at work. His attitude began changing and he often recommended me to our bosses to substitute others at work when there was a need.
I once went to his home and asked about his health and family. He said that everyone was good, and he put out fruits and sunflower seeds for me. He said that most officials in our country were corrupt, the CCP was rotten to the core and there was no way to correct the situation. He spoke with enthusiasm, ease and confidence. I quietly listened.
I drew a comparison for him between what I perceived to be the nature of the CCP: lies, evil and struggle, with the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.' I said: “If someone sends you a text message with the words 'lies, evil and struggle', you will get it. However, any text message with the words 'Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance' would be blocked. Who is good and who is bad? You will know once you compare these principles.” He didn't respond and clearly recognized the truth.
Laoxizi Shouted, “I Don't Believe in the CCP; I Believe in Falun Gong!”
I encouraged Laoxizi to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. He said he wanted to go to my home. On the way to my home, I made the comment: “Laoxizi, the CCP and greedy officials have caused natural and man-made disasters. It is not a good idea to be a part of them when they fall. Why don't you use an alias to withdraw from their organizations?” He agreed readily. And then he raised up his arms and shouted, “I don't believe in the CCP; I believe in Falun Gong!”
Laoxizi retired in the fall of 2012. I heard that he had late stage stomach cancer and two thirds of his stomach had been removed. My wife and I went to visit him, and brought a Shen Yun Performing Arts DVD and brochures about Falun Gong. He was emaciated and couldn't sit for very long. Previously, he had a healthy complexion and was quite plump. We told him, “Only Master Li can save you. Sincerely recite, 'Falun Gong is good!', 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!' These nine words can save your life.” We gave him 200 yuan when we left, so his family could buy him some fruit. He and his wife were very moved.
My wife and I often went to visit him after that. He said, “Chemotherapy has helped other people, it's only me who hasn't improved.” We encouraged him to have confidence and firmly believe that he would get better. We reminded him to not forget the nine words that could save his life.
Gradually he was able to go outside and walk. His appetite steadily increased and he was better in less than a year. He often strolled in the market with his friends. He came to our daughter's wedding at the end of 2013. He climbed six stories without getting tired. He had definitely recovered.
