Additional Persecution News from China – June 22, 2014

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during detention, at least 6 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Lanzhou, Gansu Province] Mr. Chen Deguang and Ms. Sheng Chunmei Sentenced to 9 Years' Imprisonment and Tortured in Prison

Mr. Chen Deguang, 67, was taken to the Lanzhou Prison at the end of January 2014. His wife Sheng Chunmei was taken to the Lanzhou Women's Prison. The couple were sentenced to 9 years in prison. Mr. Chen's family members went to visit him on January 28, 2014. The prison refused their visitation request.

Ms. Sheng's family went to visit her on March 17, 2014. They found her in poor health. She had heart disease and high blood pressure. Her diabetes is complicated by cataracts which almost blind her. Ms. Sheng looked frightened. She hinted with her hands for her family members to talk less.

The couple's family members went to the prison to visit them again on June 16, 2014. The men's prison still did not let the family visit Mr. Chen. They met Ms. Sheng and found her in very poor health. Her legs were severely swollen. She said she was often punished, being made to stand for great lengths of time.

2. [Fushun, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Guizhen Arrested

Ms. Xu Guizhen from Gaowan area, 69, was arrested by officers from the Gaowan Police Station at noon on June 20, 2014. Her home was ransacked. The police took away many of her personal belongings.

3. [Beijing] Mr. Hao Yongsen Persecuted in Brainwashing Center

Mr. Hao Yongsen from Fengtai District was arrested in Fangshan District by plain-clothes officers on May 25, 2014. He was persecuted in the detention and brainwashing center for 22 days in total. He was released on June 17, 2014. However, he is still being harassed and monitored.

4. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Ms. Ma Cuimei Taken to Baishan Detention Center

Ms. Ma Cuimei was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center by officers from the Zhuhailu Police Station in Economic Developing District on June 5, 2014. She was transferred to the Baishan Detention Center on June 20, 2014.

5. [Qingyang, Gansu Province] Ms. Tuo Junrong Detained

Ms. Tuo Junrong was detained in the Ning County Detention Center.

6. [Qidong County, Hunan Province] Ms. Huang Guilin Detained

Ms. Huang Guilin from Tiantang Village, Lianyu Township, Qidong is a teacher of the Lishan Elementary School in Jiangjiaqiao Town. She was arrested by the police on June 11, 2014. They took her Falun Dafa books and about 2000 yuan from her. They went to her home and took away her bank books. Ms. Huang was taken to a detention center.

7. [Meihekou, Jilin Province] Mr. Song Zhonghua Arrested

Mr. Song Zhonghua was arrested on June 20, 2014.

8. [Panjin, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Xuehua Harassed by Police

Ms. Wu Xuehui from Xinglongtai District, Panjin was harassed by the local police from the Zhenxing Police Station on June 21, 2014. The police informed her husband, and demanded her to go to the police department. They took her fingerprints and collected her blood samples. Ms. Wu's husband refused the request. On the same day, several young policemen went to ring the door bell of Ms. Wu's home. There was not an answer so they left.

9. [Harbin, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Hu Yulan Detained

Ms. Hu Yulan and four Falun Gong practitioners in their 70s were taken to the Hepinglu Police Station by the police on June 19, 2014. They were talking to people about Falun Gong. The police also ransacked the practitioners' homes. The four elderlies were released after midnight. Ms. Hu, 68, was taken to the No. 3 Detention Center for a 15-day term.

10. [Penglai, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

A group of policemen from the Luanjiakou Frontier Defense Police Station broke into Ms. Jiang Xiumei's home and ransacked it on June 18, 2014. They took away some Falun Dafa books and materials. Ms. Jiang was also arrested and taken to the Yantai Detention Center.

The police then went to ransack Ms. Cheng Yuanzhi's home. They searched it three times without finding any Falun Dafa book.

A group of policemen broke into a Falun Gong practitioner's home twice in Lijia Village around June 18, 2014. No one was at home.

11. [Qingdao, Shandong Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Mr. Gao Sicai and Ms. Sun Yifeng were taken to the detention center on June 14, 2014.

12. [Tianjin] Ms. Chen Ruiqin Arrested

Ms. Chen Ruiqin from Ji County was followed to her apartment and arrested by officers from the Wenchangjie Police Station and the Ji County Domestic Security Division for distributing Falun Dafa materials. The police also ransacked her apartment. Her arrest was premeditated. However, her family did not know about it.

13. [Weifang, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Shufeng Illegally Sentenced to Three and Half Years' Imprisonment

Ms. Zhang Shufeng, in her 40s, was arrested in 2013. She was taken to the Weifang Detention Center. As a result of the persecution, her body became swollen and blue. She has been sentenced to three and half years of imprisonment.

Ms. Zhang is a practitioner in Jiuxiang Village, Shengcheng, Shouguang, Weifang, Shandong Province.

14. [Shanghai] Ms. Gong Naifang Facing Illegal Trial

About a dozen Falun Gong practitioners from Xuhui District were arrested on February 20, 2014. Ms. Gong Naifang, 78, has been detained. The Xuhui District Court is trying her on July 1, 2014.

Ms. Gong has been arrested four to five times during the past ten years. She was twice taken to the brainwashing center at 7968 Waiqingsong Road.

15. [Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Dai Chunying and Ms. Zhang Guofen Illegally Sentenced

The Xiasha District Court sentenced Ms. Dai Chunying and Ms. Zhang Guofen to three and half years' of imprisonment, respectively, on May 12, 2014.
