(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner, Ying (alias), was detained by the local county police for 10 days in October 2015, in retaliation for filing a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin. After she was released, over a dozen police officers and agents from the local 610 Office went to her home, intending to force her to go to a brainwashing center. Ying's family members insisted that the officers show warrants that justified their actions. The police could not provide anything, so they left, but said that they would come back in three days.

On behalf of the family, one of Ying's relatives asked us practitioners, “I hope you can work together in this matter. Are you a collaborative body?”

The question was a great reminder for all of us. Several days later, practitioners who work in the legal profession in a different city visited us. With the support and input from those practitioners, we were able to work together to handle this matter.

Our first step was to explain the importance of suing Jiang to Ying's family. Once they understood the truth about the persecution and their legal rights as citizens, they all supported our efforts to obtain justice. We also pointed out that the visit by the police and the agents was illegal: Ying had submitted her case to the court and the procuratorate, so how did the police learn about this, and why were they sent to harass a practitioner?

We then worked with Ying and her family to complete the needed legal procedures. Her family first went to the police station to request the documentation for the “Administrative Penalty” for which she was being harassed. Based on that, we wrote an appeal for administrative reconsideration. Ying's family member, accompanied by another practitioner, Hua (alias), went to the Office of Law of the county government to submit the appeal. Many practitioners were sending forth righteous thoughts during the process.

In the meeting with Ying's family member and Hua, staff from the Office of Law were surprised to learn about the police officers’ behavior in the case, and they called the local police department and requested that they immediately stop such illegal harassment. However, the staff at the Office of Law were too afraid to accept the appeal. Personnel at the county government and police station were also too intimidated to accept it.

Sent Around in a Circle

Several days later, Ying, Hua and Ying's family members tried again to deliver the appeal to the county government, but the appeal was rejected, and they were referred to the local procuratorate. However, they were informed at the procuratorate that they did not accept civil cases, only criminal ones. And we were again referred to the police station. Of course, the police were afraid to handle our demands and referred the family back to the government.

The official responsible for receiving citizen appeals met with them, but did not want to accept our case, either. Surprisingly, he contacted the 610 Office for advice. The practitioners explained that this was a legal matter that needed to be processed. The official did not accept the appeal even after Ying's family member explained during a second meeting that it was illegal for him not to accept the case.

Our next step was to submit the appeal to the department that supervised the police station. Before going there, we had a meeting to discuss and reflect on the reasons our submission had been rejected by so many governmental offices.

We initially could not understand the reasons for the rejections because we knew that divine beings were safeguarding and supporting us in our work, as seen by a practitioner whose celestial eye is open. We should have succeeded.

Enlightenment

We then realized that all the barriers facing us were opportunities for us to clarify the truth about the illegal persecution of Falun Dafa to more people, especially people in the legal system and government. Moreover, by working on and overcoming these barriers, we were growing in our cultivation.

With practitioners in our city and a neighboring city sending forth righteous thoughts at the same time, we went to a higher level police department to submit the appeal. “The actions by our branch station was illegal. And we will accept your appeal,” said the officer who received us.

We discussed our success and our experiences during this process. Why was the new national policy – file every case and accept every appeal – recently instituted, so near the end of Fa-rectification? We realized that we need to make full use of advantageous policies in the human world to save more people.

When we become aware of legal rules and policies, we can point out which ones are violated in the legal and governmental systems, and what consequences the perpetrators will face. By using such tools in society to counteract the persecution, we can change the environment into a more understanding and supportive one. Let us turn the persecution that we have passively endured into great opportunities to explain the truth and save people.
