(Minghui.org) A Shanghai woman was taken into custody on February 1 this year after being tricked into visiting to a local police station regarding “a traffic accident.” The police then transferred her to Fengxian Detention Center, where she remains today.
Ms. Xue Jiuyu's family was very worried when they learned how the police had deceived and arrested her on February 1. After all, this was not her first arrest for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.
When they asked the head of the Domestic Security Division, Wan Yun, if they could engage a lawyer, they were told that Falun Gong cases were “different” and that any lawyer they hired would not be allowed to visit his practitioner client.
Ms. Xue's family returned to the Fengxian District Police Department again on February 26, hoping to get further information, but were unsuccessful. Their request to see the head of the department was turned down, too.
As a last resort, Ms. Xue's daughter went to the entrance of Fengxian Police Department and protested loudly: “You arrested my mother illegally, and I demand her release!”
A police car arrived on the scene not long afterwards. Her brother sustained injury to the corner of one eye during his struggle to get away from the police. The siblings were not released from Jianghai Police Station until officers had finished interrogating them.
Ms. Xue Jiuyu began to practice Falun Gong in 1996 and recovered her health. She was previously detained in Songjiang Brainwashing Center for one month because she refused to give up her belief.
