(Minghui.org) A senior engineer at an architectural design institute in Jinan was illegally arrested and her home was ransacked on June 25, 2015. The police claimed that they were checking up on Falun Gong practitioners for the safety of a military review.
Ms. Gu Zuhong, 51, was arrested at work by plainclothes officers. Seven plainclothes officers broke into her home earlier that day. Her daughter, who was home alone, was frightened and loudly protested the break-in. The officers yelled at her, videotaped the home, and confiscated all Falun Gong books, a laptop computer, a DVD recorder, and a paper cutter.
They took Ms. Gu's daughter to her workplace. Ms. Gu refused to go with the officers because they did not show a warrant. The officers forcibly took Ms. Gu to the Jianzhuxincun Police Station, where she was detained in the basement.
A police officer demanded that Ms. Gu sign a blank warrant several hours later. When she asked which law she violated, the officer said, “violation of public security administration.” When Ms. Gu asked about the details of this regulation, the officer could not answer. Ms. Gu refused to sign.
The police later asked for her personal ID and fingerprints. Ms. Gu also refused. The police interrogated Ms. Gu’s daughter about her mom’s practice of Falun Gong and demanded to know who Ms. Gu was in contact with. Her daughter refused to answer.
Ms. Gu told the police that Jiang Zemin, the former Communist Party leader, is being sued globally for persecuting Falun Gong and Zhou Youkang, China's former security czar, was sentenced to life. She encouraged the police to clearly understand the situation and not be scapegoats for Jiang Zemin.
Ms. Gu was released the next day. The police only returned the DVD recorder and paper cutter. She demanded the police return all other confiscated items as soon as possible.
