(Minghui.org) Close to 80 Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian City were arrested in July 2012 for installing satellite dishes in people's homes, allowing them to watch independent television from outside China.
Ten practitioners were sentenced to prison in 2014 and transferred to Shenyang First Prison.
Despite relentless torture and brainwashing, 3 of the 10 practitioners were able to remain resolute in their determination to practice Falun Gong. Their families are saddened to see them tortured beyond recognition, a price they should never have had to pay for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of belief.
Practitioners Tortured Beyond Recognition
Mr. Zhu Chengqian, Mr. Qu Bin and Mr. Ju Zhongshan are the only practitioners who still refuse to give up their practice. The Shenyang First Prison authorities rewarded and promoted the prison guards based on the number of practitioners they forced into giving up the practice. As a result, the guards intensified the torture in the past year to force the three practitioners into giving up the practice.
When the practitioners' families visited them on December 28, 2015, the families were astonished by how emaciated they were.
Mr. Zhu, who is held in the first ward, could barely walk to the meeting window. He leaned against the wall as he moved along, and as soon as he got to the window, his upper body fell to the table. He could not even raise his head when he spoke, and his voice was so weak that his brother could not hear what he had to say.
Mr. Qu is locked in the second prison ward. His family could barely recognize him because his head was grossly swollen due to the torture.
Mr. Ju's situation remains unknown because his wife, who is also a practitioner, was not allowed to visit him.
Heavy Hand by the Chinese Communist Regime
Mr. Zhu, Mr. Qu and Mr. Ju were arrested along with 76 fellow practitioners in July 2012 for helping local citizens install satellite dishes. These dishes allowed people to watch overseas channels that are banned by the Chinese regime.
Mr. Zhu, Mr. Ju, and eight fellow practitioners were tried on October 29, 2013. In January 2014, Mr. Zhu and Mr. Ju were sentenced to 5 years and 9 months, and 6 years, respectively. Mr. Qu was granted medical parole twice in 2013 as he was in critical condition due to torture. He left home after the second medical parole to avoid further persecution. He was arrested in July 2014 and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
