(Minghui.org) A Shaoyang County resident was diagnosed with leukemia when she was released from prison in 2012. She never recovered and died on June 27, 2017.

Ms. Wang Wuxiu was arrested on April 18, 2009 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. The police ordered the local detention center guards to beat her savagely. When her husband protested, the guards denied their wrongdoing.

Ms. Wang was tried on November 25 and sentenced to three years in prison the following year. She was transferred to Hunan Women’s Prison on July 8, 2010. The prison guards didn’t allow her son to see her when the young man came to visit two months later.

The guards also tortured Ms. Wang on a regular basis. Her feet became so swollen from beatings that she needed shoes three sizes bigger. Her family brought her for a medical examination when she was released in 2012. The doctors diagnosed her with leukemia and gave her one month to live.

Ms. Wang had vaginal bleeding on June 26, 2017, and she died the next day.
