(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhu Hengde, a Falun Gong practitioner who is approaching 70 years of age, is retired from the Gudao Oil Production Plant, Shengli Oilfield, Dongying City. He has been illegally detained for nearly a year, and a trial was scheduled for October 10, 2018.
Security personnel had recorded Mr. Zhu Hengde posting information about the persecution of Falun Gong on October 7, 2017. The flyer disclosed that Ma Yuqiang, team leader of the Domestic Security Division, and others had abused Falun Gong practitioners while they were in custody.
While he was detained, Mr. Zhu’s family went to the Gudao Oil Production Plant and the Domestic Security Division to request his release. They were told that they should talk to the court and Procuratorate staff.
The Hekou Procuratorate decided not to prosecute Mr. Zhu and returned his case to the Domestic Security Division in May or June 2018. But Ma Yuqiang didn't release him. He instead transferred the case to the Dongying District Procuratorate.
Due to the long-term detention he has endured, Mr. Zhu's health is declining, and he has lost a substantial amount of weight.
He has had poor health since he was young. After his wedding, he was diagnosed with necrosis of the intestines and had parts of his intestines surgically removed. In 1995, part of his stomach was removed because of severe ulcers. The majority of his spleen was also removed.
With only a partial stomach and spleen, he had to rely on blood-transfusions to survive. However, he was still the sole bread winner for his family. Their lives were hopeless and miserable.
It was during this desperate time that Mr. Zhu heard about Falun Gong's profound health benefits, and he decided to give it a try. After he began practicing, his appetite increased significantly. He could eat solid food again and became stronger and stronger. He could also do household chores like fetching water and washing clothes. Mr. Zhu became full of hope and even quit smoking and drinking. Harmony returned to his family.
The situation suddenly changed when Falun Gong started to be severely persecuted by the Chinese government in July 1999.
