(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners and supporters around the world took time this past week to remember the April 25 historic peaceful protest in which over 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners gathered in Beijing in 1999.

The protest was to request the release of 45 practitioners unjustly arrested in Tianjin, a city east of Beijing. The arrest was one of several cases of harassment by Chinese authorities that led up to the nationwide persecution that began in July of the same year. The following are reports of commemorative events in Macau, Indonesia, and New Zealand.

Macau

Indonesia

Falun Gong practitioners in Jakarta held events in front of the Chinese Embassy on April 21, 2018, to commemorate the peaceful protest in Beijing. They informed the public that the CCP's persecution continues today.

A commemoration event was also held in Surabaya this year. Dozens of practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate and distributed flyers to passers-by.

New Zealand

Nearly 100 practitioners gathered outside the Chinese Embassy on April 25, 2018, to commemorate the April 25 demonstration.

Will is from the United States and has lived in New Zealand for two years. He lives near the embassy and often saw the practitioners holding peaceful protests. He knew Falun Gong well and admires the principles of Falun Gong.

Jason, a passerby who had immigrated to New Zealand from Hong Kong, said he loved China, but not the CCP. He said he admires and supports Falun Gong for standing up against the persecution.

Ms. Pei recalls the April 25 demonstration, as she was there in person when she lived in China.
