(Minghui.org) I have cultivated Falun Dafa for 22 years. Following Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I put my heart into my work and treat my co-workers kindly. One of them said, “What he does is truly for our own good!”

Wrongfully Imprisoned and Fired

I once worked at a subsidiary of a large state-owned pharmaceutical company. Because of the Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Dafa, I was arrested and put in a forced labor camp in 2006 for my faith. While I was imprisoned, the head of the parent company forced my manager to fire me.

I later ran into someone I used to work with. He told me that the head of the parent company had died in a car accident with three young ladies in the car, and that the company spent a lot of money to settle the case.

He was surprised that the news didn't make me feel happy or avenged. Actually, I felt sorry for the man since he missed the opportunity to understand Falun Dafa.

Xinxing Tests

I found a job at a much smaller pharmaceutical company after I was let out of the forced labor camp. I was the assistant to Engineer Chen, who was in charge of the company's infrastructure construction projects.

My salary was only one-third of what I used to earn. During my probation period, when I saw the amount on my salary receipt was only a small portion of my previous salary, I was quite disappointed. Then, I said to myself, “As a practitioner, I need to let go of attachments to fame and money. My sadness shows that I have some attachments.” I quickly adjusted my thoughts and focused on work.

I found that when I followed Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Dafa adjusts everything. My xinxing improves, and my colleagues are kind to me.

Engineer Chen told me to give the carpenter a particular task. I did, but the carpenter replied, “Who are you? Who told you to talk to me? That is not my job. I don't have time for it.”

I was well respected in my previous company, but here I was challenged. I told Engineer Chen. He took me to see the carpenter, who quickly agreed to complete the assignment as if his earlier bad temper was just to set me up.

I didn't feel annoyed. Instead, I tried to understand him. I found out that he was a top-notch carpenter but hadn’t been recognized or promoted. I showed that I respected him by accompanying him on his tasks, sharing fresh tea leaves with him, and buying him drinks on hot summer days. In time, he accepted me. He taught me carpentry and told me that he regarded me as his son.

Being a Good Person

The owner runs my company. If someone makes a mistake, the owner takes it out of his next paycheck. But there is no reward for good performance. This made people try to avoid responsibility.

I felt that I should not worry too much about my personal gain or loss. Master told us:

“You should always be benevolent and kind to others and consider others when doing anything. Whenever you encounter a problem, you should first consider whether others can put up with this matter or if it will hurt anyone. In doing so, there will not be any problems.”(Zhuan Falun)

I thus do not avoid taking responsibility. Instead, I treat my colleagues like family and try my best to help them.

Once, there was an underground water pipe leak. The manager went home after 5 p.m., leaving the service crew and me to work on it. Seeing the crew welding in the heat, their clothes drenched in sweat, I told them I would take them to dinner afterward. They completed the job quickly. I took them to a nice restaurant and paid for it out of my own pocket.

The receptionist office's mop closet had a drainage problem. I asked the maintenance crew to help, but they refused because they had already fixed it several times and the receptionist kept clogging the drain. I brought in a contractor to replace the narrow metal drain with a thicker plastic one.

In another incident, when we were fixing an electrical wire for another receptionist's office, I asked the electrician to rewire it with a thicker line so that it could handle heaters in winter.

A colleague said, “Only you would take something like this seriously.”

Later, when Engineer Chen retired, the company owner promoted me to his position. I monitored construction projects and managed the project funds. Many times, contractors tried to invite me to fancy restaurants or give me gifts. I always refused. I told them that I was a Falun Dafa practitioner and would not take anything that did not belong to me.

A contractor's assistant left me a gift card. I gave the equivalent in cash to that company's executive and told her that my faith held me to higher requirements. She said she understood and respected me: “A person with a faith is just different!”

Another construction vendor wanted to give me an iPhone. “You know my principles,” I said. “I won't take it. I know it is not easy for you to make money.” He gave me a thumbs-up.

Master said:

“Dafa disciples, you are golden light in the mortal world, the hope of the world’s people, Fa-disciples who help Master, and future Fa-Kings.” (“Congratulatory Message,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress Vol. III)

I have always remembered this. I realize how much weight and sacredness these words carry.

Helping People Understand Dafa

Since people like me and trust me, it's easier for me to tell them about Falun Dafa. Many people in the company now know that I practice Dafa. They also know that cultivators are kind, honest, and good.

One colleague said, “Look at the Communist Party members. Are any one of them better than a Falun Dafa practitioner?”

After I advised a young manager to quit the Party, he said, “Following you, I'll always have food and drink,” meaning that he'd receive good fortune when he heeded my advice to support Falun Dafa and quit the Party.

When I visit a construction site, I work with the laborers and sometimes buy them drinks. Many have said, “You are nicer to us than our own boss.” I often bring them materials about Dafa and the persecution. Some of them love to read them and often ask for more.

When I talk to new workers about Dafa, the laborers would tell them, “He's a good man. What he does is truly for our own good.”
