(Minghui.org) We often say “Let’s get him/her some help” when a practitioner is experiencing a tribulation, without thinking much about what goes on behind that thought. There isn't anything wrong with the words themselves, except that they might come from our human notions. More often than not when we say “help,” it comes with the notion that “my understanding is correct” and that “I'm cultivating well.” As a result, the “help” we offer isn’t as pure and effective.

Some people use “helping others to improve or pass a test” as an excuse, and ignore personal safety. To make the matter worse, some even gather a group of practitioners to help, but in fact they are promoting their own reputation. This then becomes a serious interference to other practitioners’ cultivation.

We are all practitioners, and in my opinion we can all learn from one another. We all want to be altruistic in cultivation and naturally we want to offer help when a practitioner can’t pass a test. The key is our attitude; do we feel superior or humble when we think about helping? This is in fact a manifestation of our different cultivation levels.

It is for us to cultivate ourselves when we see others in trouble. Master says,

“The next person's things are your things, and your things are his things.” from “Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference”

If we place ourselves at the same level as the practitioner in trouble and work together to deal with the matter, we are doing what Master wants. If we appear enlightened, self-righteous, arrogant, or even that we are offering salvation, we will not be able to help.

Once when I was sending righteous thoughts, I saw that I was using my supernormal abilities to eliminate evil elements in another dimension. At the moment I felt that I was fighting all alone, deep in enemy territory, within a vast universe. I knew that something was wrong because eliminating evil shouldn’t be the task of only one practitioner but all, including the righteous gods.

I changed my notion and thought that I wanted to destroy the evil in coordination with all the righteous elements, including fellow practitioners, until all of the evil elements were wiped out. As soon as the thought emerged, divine beings with all sorts of supernormal abilities filled up the universe and in no time all the evil beings were gone.

Everything we come across, even if it seems to be someone else’s problem, is in fact an issue for all of us. It comes with the element of helping us improve. As a result, we should all treat it seriously based on the Fa. Master says,

“In fact, Dafa is also enriching your insights and creating the elite of Dafa.” – from “Clearheadedness” in Essentials for Further Advancement.
