Additional Persecution News from China – August 23, 2018 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 were illegally arrested.

Ms. Zhao Xiuzhi was sentenced to one year in prison; Ms. Li Xueyan, to two-and-a-half-year years; Ms. Li Shuangfeng, to three years; and Ms. Qin Aimin, to four years.

2. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Haiyan's Case Turned Over to Court

Ms. Wang Haiyan was arrested by officers from the Haigang District Police Department on May 20, 2017. She has been detained in the Qinhuangdao Detention Center for over a year. Her case was turned over to the Haigang District Court.

3. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Ming and Mr. Li Quanchen Officially Arrested

Mr. Zhang Ming and Mr. Li Quanchen were arrested by officers from the Kuandian County Domestic Security Division on June 29, 2018. They were taken to the Kuandian Detention Center. Both practitioners were officially arrested on July 12.

4. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Guo Zhen and Ms. Xiaomin, from Beiduanzhuang Village, Lizhuang Township, Qingyuan District, were arrested by officers from the Ranzhuang Town Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Ranzhuang Town farmers market on the morning of August 22, 2018.

5. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Geng Lijuan and Ms. Zhang Yanhui Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Geng Lijuan was sentenced to a one-year prison term, and Ms. Zhang Yanhui a seven-year prison term by the Xihe District Court. Both practitioners appealed.

6. [Botou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Jing and Other Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Zhang Jing and an undisclosed number of practitioners were arrested by officers from the Zhaizi Township Police Station in Zhaizi Township, Nanpi County, on the afternoon of August 21, 2018, for talking to people about Falun Gong.

7. [Shanghai] Ms. Liu Chunyan's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Liu Chunyan from Qingpu District was arrested at home by officers from the Xujing Police Station on the evening of August 21, 2018. Her whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Yongli Remains in Detention After His Prison Term Ended

Mr. Wang Yongli, from Magang Township, Shenbei New Area, was sentenced to four years in prison and incarcerated in Jilin Prison. He was not released at the end of his term on August 22, 2018. He was transferred to the Shenyang Police Department.

9. [Beijing] Mr. Zou Xiong's Case Turned Over to Court

Mr. Zou Xiong's case was turned over to the local court on August 17, 2018.

10. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jia Yanfeng Detained

Ms. Jia Yanfeng from Dongning City was arrested by officers from the Jianshe Police Station, Suifenhe City, on the morning of August 14, 2018.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhu Weijun Arrested

Mr. Zhu Weijun was arrested at home by officers from the Dalian Development Zone Police Department, the Domestic Security Division, and the Harbinlu Police Station on the afternoon of August 22, 2018. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, a printer, two cell phones, a full set of Falun Gong books, Falun Gong informational materials, and paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them.

Ms. Xu Xiujia, from Beiduanzhuang Village, Lizhuang Township, Qingyuan District, and Ms. Li Zhimin, from Zhangdeng Village, Zhangdeng Town, were taken to the Ranzhuang Village Committee by six or seven people for talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 22, 2018. Officers from the Qingyuan District 610 Office came to the village committee and took both practitioners to the Ranzhuang Town Police Station.

Ms. Xu was later released. Ms. Li was detained.

13. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhao Changfu and Mr. Sun Guangli Arrested

Mr. Zhao Changfu and Mr. Sun Guangli were arrested on August 22, 2018.

14. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhou Jinlian Detained

Ms. Zhou Jinlian from Yongxing County was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong on August 19, 2018. She is detained in the Tiziling Detention Center.

15. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang Jinmei Taken to Prison

Ms. Yang Jinmei from Beidaihe District was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison on July 4, 2018.

16. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Hu Jinxia Arrested

Ms. Hu Jinxia, from Hujia Township, Nong'an County, was arrested at home by officers from the Nong'an County Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of August 21, 2018. Her home was ransacked.

17. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Chen Lian, Ms. Tang Shulian, and Mr. Zhou Hai were arrested by officers from the Chengbei Police Station on the morning of August 21, 2018. They were released after the officers photographed, recorded, and interrogated them.

18. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Xiaodong Detained

Mr. Wang Xiaodong from Nanguan District was arrested by officers from the Nanjie Police Station around August 17, 2018. He was detained in the Weizigou Detention Center for 10 days.

19. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Jian Qiang Arrested

Mr. Jian Qiang from Qingxu County was arrested by Domestic Security officers for distributing Falun Gong materials on the evening of August 19, 2018.

20. [Wuwei City, Gansu Province] Mr. Zhang Guanghu Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhang Guanghe was secretly tried, and sentenced to a one-and-a-half-year prison term.

21. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Fengmei Arrested

Ms. Wang Fengmai, 78, from Chengguan Town, Huojia County, was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station, Domestic Security Division, and the Fengzhuang Town Police Station on July 12, 2018. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, informational materials about Falun Gong, and paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. No family visits have been allowed.

Mr. Chen Songqing and Ms. Pan Hao from Haifeng County were arrested by Wu Xiaosha, an officer from the Haifeng County Domestic Security Division, and officers from the Yudong Police Station, around July 15, 2018. Both practitioners were taken to the Haifeng County Detention Center.
