(Minghui.org) I often found it challenging to clarify the truth to tourists from China who were hostile towards me. But I chose not to give up, and breakthroughs occurred. I discovered that the moment I made a conscious decision to talk to people in ways I had been afraid to try, changes at a microscopic level made my effort that much more effective.
Clarifying the Truth to Chinese Tourists
Master Li Hongzhi said,
“Most people of the world were Kings in heavensDescending from above to save their sentient beingsThe Holy King comes to the world to spread DafaFulfill your vows, so your wisdom will shine forth”(“Heavenly Secret,” Hong Yin Vol. IV)
I have been exposing the persecution to Chinese tourists near a duty-free shop for eight years. It takes me more than three hours to get to the location every day. Tourists frequently reject my attempts to clarify the facts, and the tour guides often try to stop me. On top of that, I sometimes get critiques from fellow practitioners. I know that all of these incidents are tests.
I initially didn't know how to approach people in person and became fearful and anxious when a large group of tourists surrounded me. But I didn't give up, and kept trying to improve. I eventually figured out how to let the tourists see the wonderfulness of Dafa and feel the urgency of quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) within just a few minutes.
My Go-to Approaches
Mainland Chinese people don't trust people easily and use a variety of excuses to refuse to listen to the facts. I wondered how I could make them stay longer to talk to me... I started by initiating a casual conversation as an entry point to truth clarification.
I said, “You've been in Taiwan for a few days now and may have already heard that quitting the Party can guarantee your safety. Do you understand what that really means?”
If they say that they do, I follow up by saying, “Well then, I would like to ask, why do Falun Dafa practitioners ask you to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations to be safe? Because we believe in Gods, and that good deeds are rewarded and bad deeds will bring retribution.
“The Party has committed all kinds of evil deeds against the Chinese people during the past 69 years—from the Cultural Revolution, the Tiananmen Square massacre, to the atrocity of harvesting organs from Falun Dafa practitioners.
“If one kills, one will have to repay the life. The CCP has murdered countless people. Heaven will not let it get away with this. If you have joined the Party or any of its affiliated organizations, you have taken an oath to fight for it to the end.
“Isn't that the same as giving your life to the Party? You will have to keep that promise. Practitioners ask you to quit the Party not for any political purpose, but to get you to think about your future. I hope you will also tell your friends and family to quit the CCP.”
I sometimes keep it short, and say, “Since you've come to Taiwan where we have freedom of speech and freedom of the press, you should read up on current affairs and human rights issues that are blocked in China. It won't hurt to learn more and know the truth.
“Remember to recite 'Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.' Good people will always be rewarded. Everybody should remember these words. If you take the time to look into the facts about Dafa, you will be blessed.
“Natural disasters and accidents can happen at any time. That's why I'm asking you to quit the Party to be safe. You can use a nickname, and it doesn't cost you anything. As long as your true wish comes forth, you and your family will stay safe.”
Clarifying the Truth to an Elderly Woman
I once ran into a group of elderly women from the countryside. One of them signaled with a hand gesture that she didn't understand what I was saying, and tried to walk away.
I then called out, “How about I talk slowly so you can understand me? This is very important. Falun Dafa believes in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The persecution of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance has caused morality to decline in China. The food industry is selling all kinds of tainted products that threaten people's health. Everyone is a victim.
“Yet there is another threat that is more dangerous. You joined the Young Pioneers in elementary school, wore the red scarf, and took an oath to fight for the communist Party until the end of your life. When you entered middle school, you joined the Communist Youth League, and in college, you joined the Party.
“Taking these oaths three times means that your life and all your possessions are in the Party's control. Not only does it harm your health, it also affects your future.”
She replied that she was not a Party member. I then asked if she had ever worn the red scarf when she was younger. “Everybody wore the red scarf in China,” she responded.
“Besides shopping for designer brands and luxury items when you're on vacation,” I continued, “bringing home safety and peace is important. This is the best gift for you. I can pick a good name for you to quit the Party so you'll be safe.”
She agreed, and the other women in her group also quit.
Saving Those Who Are Indifferent
Some tourists from China are indifferent. I had the following conversation with one of them.
“You should have fun while on vacation. If everything the Communist Party says is true, why do they have to filter the Internet and block news from foreign media? The more the Party tries to block it, the more you should learn about it. It's wise to read up on it while you're here.”
The man replied, “I don't believe in the CCP, and I don't believe you either.”
“I'm not asking you to practice Falun Dafa.” I replied, “I just wanted to tell you that the Party has done many evil things, including bullying the Chinese people and killing without remorse. It is a heavenly principle that good deeds will be rewarded and bad deeds will receive retribution. That's why the oath you took when you joined the Party should be negated.
Karl Marx, the founder of the Communist Party, believed in Satan. How can you have a good life if you follow the devil? Quit atheism so the gods in heaven can protect you. Have you ever joined the Party for a job?”
When he said he was a retired member of the Party leadership, I said to him, “You can't stay at a high position forever. Keep your kindness, and your descendants will benefit and receive blessings.”
He eventually agreed to quit the Party and thanked me.
Tour Guide Changes
A Taiwanese tour guide once tried to stop me by saying, “You have talked to the tourists for a long time. It's enough.”
I told him, “Have a safe trip and safe returns.” I also wished him luck and gave him a thumbs up, “Taiwanese tour guides are the best in the world!”
He smiled, “Those are my group members. Talk to them however you want.”
I encouraged him, “You give them the opportunity to learn about Dafa, from which you will accumulate a lot of virtue and will receive blessings. Do more good deeds.”
I said to the group of tourists, “You guys are lucky to have such a good tour guide. Besides taking you to all the attractions in Taiwan, he also let you learn the facts to have a good future.”
I also passed out copies ofNine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and the Chinese tourists readily took the booklets.
Truly Cultivating Compassion
Another practitioner at the same truth-clarification site uses a different method to clarify the truth. I found that the Chinese tourists were more willing to listen to her.
I later realized that I didn't have enough compassion. I once tried to talk to a man in his seventies. He refused to listen to me, and at one point he pulled up his shirt and showed his belly in a rude way. The others in his group all laughed. I said to him, “Stop and act civilized.” I was not being very patient.
This tourist turned around and treated the other practitioner the same way, but she simply smiled at him. Though he kept teasing her, she never grew impatient, and continued telling him the facts.
He then started singing loudly. I noticed that when he looked directly at the other practitioner, his facial expression softened and he even looked happy. When he turned towards me, however, he gave me a serious look.
He knew that the other practitioner was kinder and was trying to tell me to cultivate better. Before he left, he said, “I know very well what the Party is. I quit the CCP a long time ago, and I know what truly went down at Tiananmen Square.”
It was at that moment when I realized what set me and the other practitioner apart.
Master Li said,
“Shan* is really powerful. It’s only that when a person in everyday people’s society tells someone about a good thing, he usually attaches his own notions, and even worries it might harm him in some way, and he wants to protect himself. Many things are mixed into what he says, so it doesn’t sound quite right and is impure, and often even has emotion in it. If what you say truly comes from your kindness and is without any personal agenda, your words will really touch others.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Singapore”)
I then met a practitioner from Hong Kong who was not moved when cursed at by a Chinese tourist. She still compassionately explained the facts about Dafa. She was not bothered by how she was embarrassed in public. She stayed calm and kindly asked the tourist to stop cursing.
The practitioner was truly compassionate toward those who treated her badly, and sincerely wished them well. The Chinese tourists all quit the Party on the spot, even the one who cursed at her.
This practitioner also regularly clarified the truth to the Hong Kong police. She showed them articles and pictures from the New York Fa conference and told them that there were hundreds of thousands of people practicing Dafa around the world.
Master said,
“Compassion can harmonize Heaven and Earth, ushering in springRighteous thoughts can save the people in this world”(“The Fa Rectifies the Cosmos,” Hong Yin Vol. II, Translation Version A)
The practitioner's compassion can truly achieve the effect of offering salvation to people. I realized that compassion and righteous thoughts are important to effectively clarify the truth.
Conclusion
I often avoid certain things and do not always want to take responsibility for my actions. When I agreed to write this article, I was surprised to find that more tourists were willing to accept what I had to say. I also felt the substance of fear diminished in my field. When my xinxing improved, the changes manifested in many ways.
When I can truly be more considerate of others, more people are willing to accept the truth. Clarifying the truth is one of the three things that all Dafa practitioners have to do well. It is our responsibility and our mission.
Lastly, I would like to share one of Master's quotes,
“The emergence of the Communist Party and the CCP’s real goal is to have people hate Gods and Buddhas, to propagate atheism, to instill a philosophy of “struggle,” and to thereby destroy humankind. And this is the reason Dafa disciples are to clarify the truth. The goal is to get rid of the evil’s lies, to enable people to see the CCP’s true face, to clear away the sins committed by people against Gods and Buddhas, and to thereby save the world’s people.” (“The Ultimate Goal of Clarifying the Truth,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress Vol. III)
