(Minghui.org) When visiting my cousin in 1995, I noticed that she was reading a book–Zhuan Falun. She explained that Zhuan Falun is the main book of Falun Dafa and contains information about cultivation. She thought I was a good candidate to read the book, given that I was in poor health and often had arguments with my husband.
I told her that I was illiterate. She told me to learn the exercises first. This too was a problem since I lived in the countryside and could not meet up with other practitioners, as transportation was not readily available.
We talked for a while, and soon after I returned home, the symptoms of all my illnesses disappeared. Now, I understand the reason for this: because I had the thought to practice Dafa, Master saw my heart and helped me.
Master said:
“Perhaps everyone has heard this statement in Buddhism: “When one’s Buddha-nature emerges, it will shake ‘the world of ten directions.’” Whoever sees it will come to give a hand and help this person out unconditionally.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
Two or three years later, I got into a fight with my husband because he used his money to gamble. I needed to buy rice, so I took 100 yuan from his pocket to buy the rice. As a result, my husband asked for a divorce. I went to my sister’s home and angrily told her that I wanted to leave my husband and return to my hometown.
My sister had already started practicing Dafa. She introduced Dafa to me and said, “Once you learn it, you will understand the issues regarding your relationship with your husband. You may owe him from your previous life.”
She went on to say, “This Fa explains your situation very clearly. There will be a Fa lecture video being played next Monday. Why don't you come to watch it with me?”
I watched the lecture. Ever since I was young, I was always serious when doing anything. Therefore, I listened carefully and didn’t miss a single word. Everything that Master said made sense.
After watching the first lecture, I attained a Falun. However, I did not go through the cleansing process. I realized that Master had already removed my illnesses a few years ago when I thought of learning Dafa at my cousin’s home.
After watching the nine-lecture series, I set up an exercise site and Fa-study group at my home. We did the exercises every morning and studied the Fa after dinner.
Appealing for Dafa
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched its persecution of Falun Dafa in July 1999, I went to the provincial government to appeal for the right to practice my faith. Some practitioners and I were detained in a local police school.
Practitioners were picked up by police officers from their hometowns. In the end, there were only a few left, including myself.
Several cadres arrived, and I clarified the facts about Dafa and the persecution to them. One asked why I was there instead of being at home and earning money. I told them no matter how much money one earned, one must first have good health. I explained how I had recovered from all of my illnesses and became a better person by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
They listened for a while, and then the driver came and told me, “They are the heads of the provincial government and the municipal government!” The head of the provincial government instructed the driver to call the local police to pick up the rest of us. I was taken back to my village.
The next morning, I worried about what would happen if the police apprehended Master. At that moment, I saw Master fly down in the full lotus position. He appeared in front of me and said, “They cannot arrest me, as I can come and go from where I came from. You just study the Fa more, study more, study more!”
Stopping Police from Doing Evil
After I returned home, my fellow practitioners were scared. I told them, “Don’t worry! Just push everything on me, and I will take care of it.”
That night, the village head came to my home and said, “The police will come tomorrow. If you tell them that you’re going to keep practicing Falun Dafa, they will arrest you. If you keep quiet, they will let you go.”
When the police came and asked me whether I would continue practicing, I said yes. They told me the CCP had banned Falun Dafa and that I should listen to the Party. An officer threatened me and hit the table.
I was not scared and said confidently, “I had heart problems. Did the CCP help me cure my health problems? My Master helped me with my problem.” We went back and forth. Finally, the officers threatened to sentence me to at least three years in prison. I told them I didn't care. I showed them that I had already packed my luggage.
No one arrested me. Before they left, they smiled and told me to practice Dafa at home, adding, “Lock the door and don’t let criminals take advantage of you.”
When I first went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Dafa, I was intercepted on the way and held at a local detention center for 15 days. I studied the Fa with other practitioners and quickly improved on my cultivation path.
Then I went to Beijing again. I was arrested and detained in a police station there. They tied me to an iron chair and asked me where I came from. I refused to tell them. One officer took Master’s picture and threatened to burn it if I didn’t answer them. When he took out a lighter and started to burn it, I tried to take the picture but failed.
He moved further away from me and tried to burn it again. I couldn’t reach him but had an idea. I said, “It’s just paper that you’re burning. My Master is in another dimension. You can’t burn him.” He immediately put out the fire at the corner of the picture. It seemed he was scared, and he left in rush.
Protected by Dafa
It was near the end of the year 2000, and many practitioners were held in the detention center. There were more than 30 people per cell.
At night, everyone could only lay sideways. The arrangement was called “standing fish.” If someone went to the restroom at night, she wouldn’t be able to fit back in and would have to stand for the entire night.
While lying there, I recited Master’s poem:
“To consummate yourself, reaping Buddhahood,Let joy be found in hardship.Physical pains count little as suffering,Indeed, cultivating mind is hardest.Each and every barrier must be broken through,And everywhere does evil lurk.Abundant troubles rain down together,All to see: Can you pull through?The world’s miseries endured,One departs the earth a Buddha.”(“Tempering the Will” fromHong Yin)
I fell asleep quickly and didn’t feel any discomfort. I realized that when we assimilate to the Fa, we are protected by Dafa. I really felt its power.
Believing in Dafa and Master
They put in me in a forced labor camp for a year. I was muddle-headed and succumbed to “transformation” but did not sign the document renouncing Falun Dafa. It was signed by someone else. I cried afterward.
After I was released, I asked another practitioner to teach me to read. It took about one year before I was able to read Zhuan Falun. Then, I set up a Fa-study group at my home.
One day, three police cars showed up. A male officer asked me whether I was still practicing Falun Dafa. I said, “Yes, of course. If I come down with illnesses after stopping the practice, will the CCP help me treat my diseases?”
Two female officers said to me, “Don’t say anything if he asks you again. Just practice at home if you think it’s good.”
Another time, eight police officers ransacked my home and even searched my underground vegetable storage. One officer demanded that I curse at Master–I needed to say just one thing. I refused and said that I would not curse at anyone. He threatened me.
I said in my mind, “Master, I will not swear no matter where I am. Please have them go.” Suddenly I was paralyzed, which scared them. They carried me to the bed and called my sister and brother before leaving. That was the last time they came to harass me.
I realized that no one could touch me as long as I believed in Master and the Fa.
The Importance of Clarifying the Truth
One day I talked to a man about Falun Dafa, and he said that he wanted to study Dafa. He wanted to help his son who was sick. He wanted a copy of Zhuan Falun, and I promised to get one for him from my home. He also asked for other Dafa books if I had them. Not thinking clearly, I sent him the books and gave him my home address.
That night, just before I fell asleep, I received a hint from Master that the man I had met earlier was a plainclothes police officer. A few days later, I was told some of us were known to the police.
I was not scared and continued clarifying the truth, giving my real name when asked. Another practitioner told me not to use my real name when clarifying the truth. I followed her advice but found that the effect was not very good. When people heard the lie, they grinned and looked disdainful. I went back to my original approach, and the effect was very good.
Master said:
“Everyone knows that this person does qigong practice. People in his workplace know it, and it is known throughout the neighborhood as well as by those who live next door.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
We should clarify the truth in an upright manner because we are doing the most righteous thing in the universe.
There was always someone from the local residential community monitoring me. They also harassed my brother, but my brother told them, “She is so stubborn that no one can persuade her.”
I would go out during the daytime to clarify the truth. Once when I was hanging banners on a tree, a police car slowly passed by me. It seemed that I was invisible.
Suing Jiang Zemin
After I filed a lawsuit against former CCP leader Jiang Zemin, police came to my home. I wasn’t there, and they told my son, “Your mom talks about Falun Dafa, distributes Dafa informational materials, and hangs Dafa banners. We haven’t taken any action against her, and now she dares to sue Jiang Zemin?” They told him to tell me to go to the local police station.
I went to the station close to the end of business hours. They locked me in a small cell and were going to interrogate me the next day. I said in my heart, “Master, if it is you who arranged for me to clarify the truth in there, I will go and stay as long as needed. If it is not, I will not stay there for even a day.” Master helped create an illusion by having me display symptoms of heart problems. I failed the required medical exam twice and was rejected by the detention center, so they had no choice but to release me.
A Righteous Mind is Fearless
A female agent from the 610 Office called me and asked whether I still practiced Falun Dafa. I firmly answered yes. She said she just wanted to ask and then hung up the phone. I had a feeling that when they encounter our righteous minds, they panic and have no energy with which to persecute us.
It is just like Master said:
“Should you have fear,it will seize upon youIf thoughts are righteous,evil will collapse”(“What’s to Fear?” from Hong Yin Vol. II)
If we have no fear and do things in an upright manner, Master will help us. I have encountered many such situations when talking to people about Dafa.
If someone restrained me or reported me to the police, I would not be scared and would think in my mind, “My Master is in charge of me, not you!” Then I’d say, “I’m telling you the truth because I think you’re a good person. Persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners will send you to hell. Do you want this to happen?” Some would immediately smile and let go of me, and some would say they were just kidding.
I think all of those occurrences were interference from the old forces. Master doesn’t acknowledge them, and neither do we.
Master said:
“But all the same, Master doesn't acknowledge them. And you shouldn't acknowledge them either. Do things well in an upright and dignified way, negate them, and strengthen your righteous thoughts some. 'I'm Li Hongzhi's disciple, I don't want other arrangements or acknowledge them'--then they won't dare to do that. So it can all be resolved. When you can really do that, not just saying it but putting it into action, Master will definitely stand up for you. What's more, there are lots of Fa guardians around Master, there are lots of Buddhas, Daos, and Gods, and there are even greater beings, and they will all participate, because forced persecution that's not acknowledged is a crime, and the cosmos's old laws don't allow it either--irrational persecution absolutely is not allowed, and the old forces don't dare to do it if that is the situation. So you should do things as righteously as you can.”(Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference)
I have run into so many people who finally understood Dafa and refused to put me in harm’s way. If we understand and accept Master's Fa, we can change any situation and the minds of those who have been misled to hate Dafa.
