(Minghui.org) A Xuchang City, Henan Province resident was sentenced to prison for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Dai Yanliang, 67, was arrested and had his home ransacked on July 21, 2018. The police targeted him after he was seen on surveillance camera posting flyers with information about Falun Gong.

The Weidu District Procuratorate returned Mr. Dai’s case due to insufficient evidence, but the police refused to release him and fabricated more evidence in order to pursue prison time for him.

The prosecutor accepted the case and indicted Mr. Dai after the police resubmitted it.

Mr. Dai was tried by Weidu District Court in September 2019 and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison two months later.

Mr. Dai has been held at Jian’an District Detention Center for one year and four months. He has developed medical problems as a result of the abuse suffered there.

Finding Hope After Only Child's Death

Mr. Dai began to practice Falun Gong in 2003. He credits the practice for curing the intestinal inflammation that had tormented him for years.

Mr. Dai later lost his job in a major layoff. He started a stall that repaired bicycles. He soon built up his customer base with the excellent service he provided.

His son, their only child, died in a work-related accident. This was a heavy blow to his wife, and she fell ill afterwards. With the guidance of Falun Gong’s teachings, Mr. Dai faced the adversity with calm. He took good care of his wife and encouraged her to have hope for life again.

Having benefited tremendously from his faith, Mr. Dai shared his story with the public and debunked the slanderous propaganda spread by the communist regime, only to be arrested and incarcerated.
