(Minghui.org) I joined the military at the age of 15, so I was shaped by the culture of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). As a result, I developed a feisty hot temper and was not receptive to different opinions. I was stubborn and intolerant, but I boasted that I was just determined and decisive. I earned many awards and was promoted from a rank and file soldier to the division head, thereby becoming the youngest member of the mid-level leadership. I used to be proud of my achievement and thought I was not a disappointment to my parents and supervisors.

My wife was unwilling to support and care for my parents, which was in serious conflict with my idea of an ideal wife, so my first marriage ended in divorce. After that, I was fatigued mentally and physically every day, both from work and from caring for my ill mother, who was in her 80s.

Just as I felt I had lost all hope, my current wife came into my life. It felt as if destiny was playing with me when I learned that she was a teacher and taught the same subject as my ex-wife. After getting to know her, however, I realized that she was totally different. She was kind-hearted and did not look down on my low income and heavy family burden. To my happy surprise, she shared the toil of caring for my mother and patiently comforted me when I was in low spirits.

When my mother passed away and I was lost in almost unbearable sorrow, she kept me company day and night, putting up with my moodiness and unpredictable temperament. Her warmth melted my cold heart, and my fear of marriage was thus dispelled. We got married soon afterward.

As we were enjoying the happy life of newlyweds, I stumbled upon some Falun Dafa books one day as I was cleaning our home. I was surprised and fearful of the potential consequences, worried because the CCP has been brutally suppressing Falun Dafa since 1999. When I brought it up to my wife, she was calm and started to tell me about her practice of Dafa and the great health and spiritual benefits she had gained from it.

Although I could identify with what she said and was cognizant of Dafa's beauty manifested in her conduct, I feared the CCP regime, especially considering we were both government employees. I threw a huge tantrum and even threatened, “If you insist on practicing, we will have to get a divorce.”

I was shocked by her ever persistent calmness and quietly carrying out her daily responsibilities as a good wife. With her meticulous care, my arthritis was much alleviated and my nightmares and migraines disappeared. My health and spirits improved day by day. One day a taxi driver mistook me as in my 30s even though I was 45 years old.

I knew in my heart that my positive transformation would not have been possible without my wife. I decided not to oppose her practice of Dafa. The following experiences further convinced me and changed my mind once and for all.

I was quick to act, impatient by nature, and abnormally obsessed with being clean and spotless. I only wore white socks my whole life. All the clothes I wore had to be washed right away. I had to carry out any plan I'd conjured up without a single second's delay. That mental disposition had already resulted in two aneurysms.

The second time I had an aneurysm, my family members were all worried about me and feared the usual aftereffects and complications. However, I turned out to be fine and my health kept improving. I continued to get stronger day by day without any trace of complications. My wife told me that it was a blessing due to my knowing Dafa, quitting the CCP, and reciting “Falun Dafa is good” daily.

Now I am easygoing and calm. I have let go of attachments to fame and personal gain to a large extent. I actually gave up an opportunity to be promoted. I am grateful to Falun Dafa, which brought happiness to my family.

To those who misunderstand Falun Dafa just like I did in the past, I want to say, “Don't be deceived by the propaganda in the media! Please cherish the practitioners in your life. It is wise to listen to different sides of the story and make your own judgment. Be a person who stands up for Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and choose a bright future for yourself and your loved ones.”
