(Minghui.org) One evening, a policeman knocked on my door. I panicked a little but quickly calmed down and asked, “Who are you looking for?” He said he wanted to talk to me.

I hadn’t had any dealings with the police before and was a little nervous. I invited him in and he introduced himself. “Someone tipped us off that you practice Falun Gong,” he said. “Is that true?” I said that it was.

“I am new here and want to hear what you have to say about it,” he said. “Do you mind if I video our conversation?”

I took a deep breath and calmed down. I thought, “If I can help him understand the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution, he won’t persecute good people who practice it.”

I said, “I will tell you about my experience with Falun Gong.”

I told him about how, before I became a practitioner, my life was plagued by chronic illness. I tried both Eastern and Western medicine, but to no avail. I ended up on painkillers and digestive aids and lived in constant pain for many years. I also had to take care of my aging mother and grandson on top of being sick and in pain all the time. I felt that life was not even worth living.

“In 1996 I was fortunate to learn Falun Gong,” I said. “As soon as I started the practice, my life began to improve in every way. One by one, my illnesses cleared up and disappeared. I became totally healthy without seeing a doctor and have not taken any medications since, yet I look and feel ten years younger.”

I told him that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) led by Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong, ignoring the advice of other Politburo members. As I went on describing the details of the persecution, he gained a deeper understanding of everything.

“I know that you practitioners are good people,” he said. Then his cell phone rang. He turned off his camera and we said goodbye.

I was glad that I had the chance to help him understand the truth, but I wished I had offered to help him withdraw from the CCP.

Clarifying the Truth with Compassion

Last year, two people from the street administration committee came to visit me several times with gifts. They wanted to convince me to sign a declaration saying that I would stop practicing Falun Gong. I knew that they were only following their supervisor's orders, so I invited them in to chat. I talked to them about the persecution and what a good thing Falun Gong is.

The fourth time they came, I greeted them with a smile. I presented them with a list of the gifts they had brought me and 350 yuan to cover their cost. They refused the money and asked if I would sign the declaration to renounce Falun Gong. I responded by giving them more details about the persecution and how so many practitioners have been tortured and killed as a result of it. Getting a bit nervous, one of them again asked if I would please sign the paper. I just looked at them. The other one said that she had to go, but that they would be back again.

Since they wouldn’t accept the money for the gifts they had brought me, I sent them the money along with a letter to make clear my refusal to sign any documents declaring that I would not practice Falun Gong.

The next time they came, I went straight to the point. I told them that if I were to sign their document and give up Falun Gong, I would be harming not only them but their families. “In the future, Jiang Zemin will be brought to justice for his crimes against humanity,” I said. “If I sign this document, won't that make you complicit in the crime of persecuting Falun Gong?”

I told them how, shortly after the persecution began, I was put under tremendous pressure by my boss and supervisors to give up Falun Gong. Sadly, I complied. A year later, the illness I had battled for years, but could never get rid of, returned. On top of that, I had a heart attack and ended up in the hospital in intensive care. My elderly mother was left at home on her own, which upset her so much that she had a heart attack and passed away. When I started to practice Falun Gong again, my ailments all cleared up.

I said, “You see, Falun Gong saved my life twice. Do you really want me to give it up and return to being sick again while harming you and your family in the bargain?”

The one who seemed to be in charge stood up and said, “Thank you for telling us the truth. Now we know.” They left and never came back.
