(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Shouda, an Inner Mongolian man detained in Hohhot Second Prison, had been twice abused by an inmate in the past several months. To this day, prison officials haven't taken appropriate action to hold the perpetrator responsible.

Mr. Wang is serving 11 years for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since July 1999.

Head Hit on the Floor, Tooth Knocked Out and Eyes Injured

The first incident of abuse took place on October 16, 2018. Inmate Wang Jining slammed Mr. Wang, who is in his 50s, to the ground and knocked his head on the concrete floor. At the time, Mr. Wang had not eaten for nearly one month and was very weak. Physical abuse like this could have easily taken his life. Although the prison officials conducted an “investigation,” they did nothing to hold inmate Wang responsible.

The second incident happened at 10 p.m. on December 19, 2018. Wang Jining beat Mr. Wang again, knocking out one of his teeth and injuring his eyes. Mr. Wang's eyes became so swollen that he could not see. The prison guards were aware of the beating but they didn't provide Mr. Wang with immediate medical treatment.

In prison, those who beat others were usually sent to solitary confinement immediately. But Wang Jining has not faced any consequences for his abuse of Mr. Wang, who on the other hand, has not been allowed to go out of his cell for breaks like other detainees.

Arrest and Imprisonment

Mr. Wang lives in Ordos City in east Inner Mongolia. He and two other Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Guo Bingqiang and Ms. Bai Tuoya, were arrested on June 19, 2011. They were sent to the Dongsheng Detention Center.

Mr. Wang's family did not hear anything about him until December 2012, when they were notified that he had been sentenced to 11 years and sent to Hohhot Second Prison.

Inside the prison, Mr. Wang was forced to do heavy labor and attend brainwashing sessions. The prison guards instigated inmates to beat him, causing him harm both physically and mentally.

Zhou Junqing and Fan Zhiqiang, two officers in the prison, immobilized Mr. Wang on the floor on November 16, 2017. They forcibly pulled two front teeth from his mouth and stuffed his mouth with toilet paper. Mr. Wang was then kept in solitary confinement for nearly three months and was not let out until his life was in danger. Mr. Wang filed a formal complaint, but it went nowhere.

Dozens of Practitioners Mistreated in Same Prison

Located in Yuquan District, Hohhot Second Prison began to accept Falun Gong practitioners in 2002, especially practitioners from west Inner Mongolia. Dozens of practitioners had been detained and tortured here in the past ten plus years.

Mr. Zhao Yong, a retired teacher from Baotou City, experienced significant health improvement from practicing Falun Gong. He was arrested and sentenced to three years in Hohhot Second Prison for putting up posters bearing information about Falun Gong. After suffering unrelenting torture in the prison, he died on April 29, 2005.

Yao Ming and Wang Qing, two officers at Hohhot Second Prison, did not allow family members to visit practitioners. They also held two months of brainwashing sessions in 2018, attempting to force practitioners to give up their belief. In addition, they withheld practitioners' written complaints against former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong. None of the complaint letters were mailed out.
