(Minghui.org) Another practitioner, named Yun, and I had been using our cell phones to call people and clarify the truth for a few years. In June 2017 there was a shortage of phone cards, so we decided to switch to another project. We happened to read a sharing published on the Minghui website that said not enough truth clarification materials were being delivered to people.

We both had the same thought... We could deliver materials to residents in buildings. One building in our area had just been built, and no one had delivered materials there.

For the next 18 months, we delivered information about Falun Dafa to residential buildings. There are over thirty high rise buildings in our county, so there was plenty to do. We’d like to share our experiences with you.

The Bitter and the Sweet

Yun recorded which buildings we visited, so when we returned later we wouldn’t revisit them. Most tall buildings have seventeen floors but some have twenty six floors. We could easily enter the buildings because the main gates are usually open in the summer. In the winter, whenever the gates were open, we would go in.

Our first batch of materials was about truth clarification. The second batch was the book The Ultimate Goal of Communism. Because the book was thick and heavy, we couldn’t deliver as many, as it was difficult to carry fifty to sixty books and climb stairs.

The practitioner who printed the truth clarification materials lived about half an hour away. We each carried two hundred booklets, which was challenging, but we worked well together.

It was raining one day when we went to pick up materials. I was walking behind Yun and complained that it was too far to walk. As soon as I said that, I stumbled and fell. My knees were bleeding. Yun helped me to get up. I said, “I fell because I complained!” In my mind I told Master, “Master, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have complained.”

Despite the scorching summer heat we tried to deliver more because the gates were open. It was so hot that we were drenched in sweat even while standing still, let alone climbing the stairs. At first we didn’t think to bring a small towel to wipe away the sweat. So when we were done, we looked at each other and laughed because our faces were covered with torn tissues. We did notice that we were never thirsty.

One day we started to climb the stairs to the eleventh floor. When we got the third floor, my chest hurt. I gasped and struggled to breathe. I thought, “I can’t stop. Teacher, please help me. I can do it.” At that moment, I remembered Master’s poem,

“So steel the will, and lift thy leaden leg,
Endure the pain, diligent, and cast off attachments”
(“Climbing Mount Tai” Hong Yin, Translation Version A)

When we were about to reach the top floor, Yun motioned to me to not continue. I waved my hand, indicating that I wanted to finish. This was how I broke through the interference. We never had this kind of interference again.

A Narrow Escape

Things didn’t always go smoothly when we distributed materials. Once when we had just put up a poster, a lady came to the door and yelled, “What are you putting on the door?” Yun smiled and said, “Hello. We came to bring you something good. Please read this information.” The lady calmed down. She took the brochure and said, “Okay, I’ll take a look. Thank you.”

Another time we had finished delivering The Ultimate Goal of Communism to the tenth floor and were about to go to the eleventh floor, when we met a cleaning lady in the stairwell. She had seen us putting up a poster, and said, “Don’t put anything on the door. The landlord will make us tear it down as soon as he sees it.” I said, “Please don’t do that. Practitioners use their own hard earned money to make these posters. Why? Because when people see the poster, they’ll understand the truth and be saved.” We began chatting and learned that her mother was a Falun Dafa practitioner. After we talked, we thanked her and said to send our warm greetings to her mother.

One building we visited was where the Public Security Bureau families lived. It only had six floors. We had just finished one floor and were about to move to the next when a police officer walked in. He asked, “Are you putting up ads? Let me see what you have in your bag.” I was shocked but remained calm. I said in an authoritarian tone, “Hey, who gave you the right to inspect my bag!” His attitude changed, and he quietly said, “We just finished painting the walls. You can’t put up posters.”

Teacher said,

“Validate the Fa with rationality, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and save people with mercy—this is establishing the mighty virtue of an Enlightened Being.” (Rationality, Essentials for Further Advancement II)

As long as we align ourselves with the Fa, we can weather any storm.

Opportunities to Eliminate Attachments

Yun and my personalities are quite different so sometimes we have conflicts. But because we are cultivators, we know to search inside to see where we need to improve. In the process, I’ve cultivated away many human attachments, such as self-validation, competitiveness, and the mentalities of showing off, self-importance, resentment, jealousy, and so on.

Most buildings have several apartments on each floor. Some have three and others have four. Whenever we hesitated, we both remembered our objective to save people, and continued on. We split the task and each did one apartment. We felt that when we do things aligned with the Fa, things go smoothly because Master is by our side.

Another time Yun said, “If we happen to meet someone we know, we should just say that we are going to our grandchild’s home.” I didn’t say anything. Then, she saw someone she knew. After a brief exchange with the person, Yun again said, “If we meet someone we’ll say that we're going to our grandchild’s home.” I said, “That’s not being truthful. We can just say hello.”

Shortly afterwards, she saw someone she knew. She hid behind her umbrella. This was unusual because she liked to talk to people. I said, “Yun, why aren’t you talking?” She said, “What can I say? According to you, I always say the wrong thing.” Her comment made me realize that I was being too forceful. I realized that I was too domineering because I still hadn’t eliminated the Communist Party mentality. My lack of compassion made it hard for her to accept my suggestion. I didn’t say anything. When we said goodbye that day, I said, “I’m very sorry.”

The next day she came to my house on time. It was as though nothing had happened, and we set out to deliver materials as usual. I knew she was examining herself just as I was. I was grateful for the opportunity to work with her.

In order to do our project well and strengthen our abilities to save people, we studied the Fa a lot. We studied at least one lecture together each morning. Then in the afternoon when we were done, we studied another lecture. Afterwards we discussed how our day went. After dinner, we studied other lectures and sent righteous thoughts.

For many reasons I seldom joined group study. Because of this many of my attachments were not exposed. For example, when I read silently I read each word. But when I read the text aloud I read words that weren’t there. Whenever Yun corrected me I felt uncomfortable. I knew it was because I had an attachment of saving face and I didn’t like my shortcomings pointed out. When I added or deleted words from the Fa, it showed that I lacked respect for Master or the Fa. I realized this was a serious problem. Once my xinxing improved, Yun’s corrections no longer bothered me. I thanked her from the bottom of my heart.

When I recall the times we’ve worked together over the past year, I experience both miseries and joy. The process helped me understand what Master said,

“Both the body and mind must be tempered, which is very trying.” (The Ninth Talk, Zhuan Falun)

People are Waiting to Be Saved

We also talk to people. Those who read the materials quickly agree to quit the Party. Some elderly people said, “I saw the poster on the door. The communists will soon be gone. Please help me quit the Party.” Others said, “I’ve finally found you! I want to learn Falun Dafa after I read the materials.” Sometimes we hand materials to people who are waiting to cross the street at traffic lights. One man said, “Yes, I read your materials. I often say ‘Falun Dafa is good’. You see, I’m over eighty years old, but I can still ride a bike.”

We feel honored each time we see how happy people are. We can help at least twenty to thirty people quit the Communist Party each day. Many practitioners in our area still persist in handing out truth clarification materials to people. Regardless which project we are involved in, each is important and helps to save people. Our persistence and diligence will help us fulfill our mission and reach our ultimate goal.

Please point out anything inappropriate. Thank you Master! Thank you fellow practitioners.
