(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Xihua, 74, was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong, a traditional mind and body cultivation practice persecuted in China since 1999.
Officers from the Malianzhuang Police Station arrested Ms. Liu on July 17, 2018. She was held in the Pudong Detention Center for almost a year before being sentenced to a three-year prison term on July 2, 2019.
Ms. Liu is from Malianzhuang Town, Laixi City (Shandong Province). She has been living alone since her husband passed away a few years ago. After she started practicing Falun Gong, her numerous illnesses disappeared. She became healthy and took care of herself without depending on her children for financial support. She was held in high regard for her kindness among people in her village.
Police officers had harassed Ms. Liu on various occasions, which resulted in her having to move to avoid contact with the police. Officers took Ms. Liu into custody while she was talking to people about the persecution in the Xiadian area (Zhaoyuan County) on April 22, 2008. She was initially detained at the Linglong Brainwashing Center in Zhaoyuan City.
