(Minghui.org) When Ms. Wen Zhihua’s family visited her at the Tangshan Detention Center in mid-December 2019, they were shocked to learn that she had already been transferred to prison to serve a two-year term, for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.

Ms. Wen, a 73-year-old resident of Zunhua City, Hebei Province, credits Falun Gong for improving her health. She filed a criminal complaint against Jiang in 2015 and was arrested on January 15, 2016.

She was given 15 days of detention. Her husband paid 900 yuan for her meals and 1,000 yuan bail before being allowed to take her home. She was beaten by her son when she refused to sign the statement to renounce Falun Gong.

Ms. Wen was arrested again on October 19, 2017 while talking to people about Falun Gong in a market. Her home was raided hours later, and her husband was traumatized by the police.

The police forcibly collected a blood sample from Ms. Wen without explaining the reason. She was released on 3,000-yuan bail in the evening after experiencing a medical condition.

An officer from the Dongjiuzhai Police Station and a staff member from the Zunhua City Procuratorate delivered a summons to Ms. Wen on April 27, 2018. When she refused to open the door, the police scaled her fence and entered her home. She refused to sign the summons or accept the court-appointed lawyer.

The police and local 610 Office agents took Ms. Wen into custody and sent her to the Tangshan Detention Center on July 24, 2019.

When her family went to make a 2,000-yuan deposit for her at the detention center’s request, they weren’t allowed to see her.

When they went to the detention center to visit her again in mid-December 2019, they were told that Ms. Wen had already been sent to Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison to serve time. It’s not clear whether a court hearing ever took place.
