(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian Jingbo Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Tian Jingbo was arrested at home by the Shibei District police on May 11, 2018. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Qingdao City No. 2 Detention Center.

Ms. Tian was tried at the Shibei Court on April 16, 2019. A second trial was held on December 13, where she was sentenced a 22-month prison term. During the trial she stated that she would appeal the sentence.

2. [Luohe City, Henan Province] Mr. Liang Junde Sentenced to Prison; Ms. Ma Yueqin Placed Under Criminal Detention

Mr. Liang Junde from Linying County was sentenced to a 14-month prison term. He is appealing to the Linying Inspection Committee.

Ms. Ma Yueqin was arrested by officers from the Duqu Town Police Station on November 29, 2019, for distributing Falun Gong calendars in Duqu. She was taken to the Luohe City No. 2 Detention Center for 15 days, and was placed under criminal detention.

3. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Hui Detained

Ms. Wang Hui was arrested by officers from the Changchunlu Police Station on the evening of December 11, 2019, for distributing Falun Gong calendars. Her car was impounded. She is being held in the Luoyang Detention Center.

4. [Qishan County, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Zheng Shijian Arrested

Mr. Zheng Shijian, in his 50s, was arrested by officers from the Weiqu Police Station, Chang’an District, on April 7, 2019. His whereabouts are unknown.

5. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Yuan Huiwu and Mr. Yang Xin Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Yuan Huiwu and Mr. Yang Xin were tried by the Yanta District Court on the morning of December 16, 2019. The prosecutor recommended that Mr. Yuan be sentenced to a three-year prison term and Mr. Yang to between three and seven years in prison.

6. [Tai’an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Rong Arrested

Ms. Li Rong was arrested in mid-November 2019.

7. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ren Yuhong Undergoes Surgery in Prison

Ms. Ren Yuhong is incarcerated in Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. Her family went to visit her a few days ago. She is suffering from uterine fibroids. Her family paid 30,000 yuan for her to have surgery in the prison hospital.

8. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Qiu Yufeng’s Case Turned Over to Procuratorate

Ms. Qiu Yufeng was arrested by officers from the Yuzhoulu Police Station in the High-tech Zone on July 15, 2019, and was taken to Nancheng Detention Center.

She was released on bail due to insufficient evidence. However, her case has now been turned over to the Haizhou District Procuratorate for prosecution.

9. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhou Zelan (66), Ms. Fu Yifang (66), Mr. Ren Wending (65), and Ms. Li Changju (50) from Jinshi City were arrested on November 20, 2019. Their homes were ransacked. They have since been released and returned home.

10. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Gong Fengqiang Escapes from Police; His Wife Ms. Li Yanjie Dies from Fall

The Yilan County and Qitaihe City police went to Mr. Gong Fengqiang's home on the evening of December 7, 2019. They forced him to open the door, and tried to arrest him and his wife Ms. Li Yanjie.

Mr. Gong (42) and Ms. Li (35) tried to escape from the 6th floor. However, Ms. Li fell from the 4th floor and died on impact. Mr. Gong managed to escape.
