(Minghui.org) On the issue of the 2020 U.S. general election, many practitioners know that it is a battle between good and evil, and they have been sending forth righteous thoughts to help eliminate the evil in other dimensions. With strong human notions, however, we also have practitioners who get carried away by the latest developments in the election and are anxious to see a favorable outcome. When clarifying the facts to ordinary people, they make casual remarks about one party being better than the other party.

As practitioners, we know that Master has made it clear from the very beginning that Falun Dafa “is all about your heart and mind.” (The Eighth Talk, Zhuan Falun) When saving people, Dafa also looks at people’s heart. If we focus too much of our attention on a particular political party or specific events, we could unknowingly act or think like ordinary people. After all, each political party is composed of individual members. When saving people, we should help individual members of each party to return to traditional values, instead of being attached to agendas and policies of the parties they are affiliated with.

I enlightened from studying Master's teachings that no matter what happens, we should just focus on saving people and improving ourselves. That way, we would remain unmoved and be able to handle all kinds of situations. Things that happen right now, especially those that trigger broad interests in society, are topics that we can utilize to clarify the truth, helping them to identify with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and to return to the divine. It can't be that we get distracted by the ever-changing human affairs.

For practitioners who live in the Blue (Democrat) states or battleground states, we should also make more efforts to find more effective ways to help people awaken their conscience and inspire their kindness. As we keep improving our character and elevate the realm of our cultivation, we would be able to help more people distinguish good from evil. Certain things that happened in this world, or certain issues or parts of a specific event, could be related to our cultivation status – that is, how much we are able to fulfill the mission as Dafa disciples. Were we to always get carried away by the results, we would be confusing cause and effect and wasting our time, like a cat chasing its tail.

Facing the steal of the U.S. presidential election, it is like we are taking an exam and we need to be clear about what the exam questions presented to us are. When the person chosen by the divine is facing a coup, we have the responsibility to stand alongside the divine. In the meantime, we cannot allow our mind and actions to stoop to the level of non-practitioners.

The above is my understanding. Please point out anything inappropriate.

To conclude, I'd like to share some teachings from Master’s lectures that I feel could help us gain a more rational understanding of the issue.

“Before the arrival of the evil CCP, people in the world, including the Chinese people, held universal principles that were exactly the same. Despite the differences in skin color, appearance, and manner, the bottom line in people’s hearts for civilization and the criteria for judging what's good and what's bad were exactly the same, with no differences whatsoever. All this was taken care of by one God!” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)

“In fact, I have already said in Zhuan Falun that human society’s development is driven by the evolution of the cosmic climate. Are mankind’s wars accidental, then? A region with a lot of karma or a region where the people’s minds have become bad is bound to be unstable. If a nationality is to be truly virtuous, it must have little karma; it is certain there will be no wars against it. This is because the principles of Dafa prohibit it, as the nature of the universe governs everything.” (“A Brief Explanation of Shan,” Essentials for Further Advancement)

“As for how a certain government or so-and-so is doing, a cultivator doesn’t have to give this any thought whatsoever. Don’t give it any thought or concern. Just think, “I came to save sentient beings, and that’s that.” Someone might be in power today, and tomorrow it might be someone else, but whoever wants to be in power, so be it. It is arranged by gods, so it is what it is. If you focus your attention on this, it means that your thinking has gone off track. The moment you think like that, it’s a deviation. Don’t concern yourself with such things, and just do what you should. What usually happens is that the more attached to something you become, the greater the likelihood that problems will follow and form into something like a test of your xinxing. The more you ignore such things, the better. You have your path, while human beings have their affairs. You have things that you need to do. Don’t give any concern or attention to political things or what happens between parties. Of course, our media don’t really have a choice about reporting on it, since those are probably things that ordinary people are interested in. In that case you can just report as others do, and not write opinion pieces. You can just carry others’ reports. And we don’t write opinion pieces on inter-party squabbles. So that’s the approach you can take to news that’s of interest to people, until the persecution has ended and the media run by Dafa disciples have fully become a regular part of society.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the NTDTV Meeting”, Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. IX)
