(Minghui.org) How we measure our words when clarifying the truth is a reflection of our realm of cultivation. That’s why we say that cultivating ourselves well is a prerequisite for offering salvation to other people.

After years of self-cultivation, we have gained certain levels of understanding of the principles of Falun Dafa and upgraded our xinxing. Our way of thinking is drastically different from that of everyday people. The same words said about the same thing could be interpreted by the listener completely differently due to our different realms. Offering salvation is our goal. Any misunderstandings could be counterproductive and push people away.

Recently, as I was clarifying the truth, I told someone about a prophecy of Liu Bowen's that alerts people to a catastrophe. The person reacted negatively and didn’t want to listen to me anymore. People are afraid of death while facing this plague.

I regretted not having spoken with more compassion. The prophecy was beyond the listener’s level of acceptance, and I failed to follow the logic of his attachments. I hope the lesson I learned will inspire fellow practitioners.

This is what Master said on this issue:

“It's hard to save people nowadays. You have to explain things to them by following the logic of their attachments. For the sake of saving them, don't create any obstacles for them.” (Touring North America to Teach the Fa)

“Today's people are really hard to save. [It seems as though] they'll listen only if what you tell them is in line with their ideas, and they'll listen only if you talk to them in a way that they like. In other words, if you want to save them, they have conditions for you to do so.” (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York)
