(Minghui.org) A married couple and their son in Tangshan City, Hebei Province were recently arrested for the couplets on their door bearing messages about Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.

Officers from Chahe Police Station showed up at the home of Mr. Han Zijun and Ms. Duan Xiuxia on the afternoon of April 4, 2020, when Ms. Duan was home by herself.

The police demanded that she remove the Falun Gong couplets from their door. After Ms. Duan refused to comply, the officers went up and attempted to remove the couplets themselves.

Just then, Ms. Duan’s son, Mr. Han Jiwei, came to visit. Upon seeing that the police were tearing down the couplets, the younger Mr. Han reasoned with them and attempted to stop them.

Shortly after, more police officers showed up and arrested Mr. Han and his mother, whose home was also ransacked and whose Falun Gong materials confiscated.

The older Mr. Han was arrested later in the day when he went to the police station to demand the release of his loved ones after seeing the mess at home after work.

The police interrogated the couple overnight. They refused to answer any questions. Although the police released the couple on the next afternoon, they took them back into custody on April 8 and gave them 15 days of detention at Fengnan District Detention Center.

Their son, who has been in custody since his arrest, was also given 15 days of detention. He was transferred to Fengrun District Detention Center on April 8.
