(Minghui.org) For many years, Falun Gong practitioners outside of China have been making phone calls to the people in China, helping them learn about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution of Falun Gong and encouraging them to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
After the coronavirus epidemic broke out, the world has witnessed how the CCP covered it up in the early stages and allowed it to evolve into a global pandemic.
Meanwhile, practitioners outside of China have stepped up their efforts to call the Chinese and remind them of how the CCP has been covering up the epidemic by using the same tactics it has been using for years in persecuting Falun Gong.
In their continued efforts to prevent the Chinese from learning the facts, the CCP has clamped down on international phone calls from other countries to China, in addition to ramping up internet censorship and a media propaganda campaign.
Not long ago, a Falun Gong practitioner in China noticed posters starting to show up around town that said, “Be cautious about telecommunication fraud.” A few days later, his family received a phone call from an 0054 country code, which they later found out was Argentina.
The caller appeared to know their names and phone numbers. He also claimed that someone used one of their numbers to send him multiple illegal messages. The practitioner’s family member thought it was a scammer, so he hung up immediately.
Shortly after that, they received a text message from a Beijing number that read: “China Unicom warns: the phone call you just received starting with 0054 was an overseas call. Please protect your identity and prevent fraud. To stop receiving overseas calls, reply by texting ‘9.’”
The practitioner then realized that the whole thing could be a scam perpetrated by the CCP regime. He suspected that the CCP could easily hire people to make fraudulent calls from overseas to make the Chinese believe that all calls from outside of China are scams, tricking people into blocking all international calls themselves.
The CCP's biggest fear is that its people will learn just how evil it really is and withdraw from it. It is well aware that filtering information on the internet alone cannot completely stop the flow of messages from overseas, so it is using this tactic to make the Chinese believe that it is to their benefit to block overseas calls.
