Additional Persecution News from China – May 16, 2020 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in six provinces, where at least 15 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Lili and Ms. Liu Fengqin Arrested

Ms. Zhao Lili was recently arrested at home by officers from the Junde Police Station in the Xingshan District.

Ms. Liu Fengqin was arrested by officers from the Liuhao Police Station in the Nanshan District on May 13, 2020.

2. [Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Haimin Detained

Ms. Wang Haimin was arrested by officers from the Aihui District Domestic Security Division on the morning of May 13, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, a laptop, and printed materials were confiscated.

Ms. Wang is being held in the Nenjiang City Detention Center.

3. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Lu Juying and Ms. Yang Shuxian Arrested

Ms. Lu Juying was arrested at home by officers from the Jinsha Police Station and the Panlong District Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of May 12, 2020. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated. She was taken to the police station where she was photographed and had her fingerprints and blood samples taken. She was released on bail after her daughter was forced to sign a guarantee statement on her behalf.

Ms. Yang Shuxian, 79, a professor at the Kunming University of Science and Technology, was arrested at home by officers from the Wenlin Police Station and residential community personnel on May 13. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and printed materials were confiscated.

4. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Guiqin and Ms. Li Xiaochun Arrested

Ms. Li Guiqin, 72, and Ms. Li Xiaochun, 56, were arrested by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station on the afternoon of May 14, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked that evening, and Falun Dafa books, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Yang Yuchun Arrested

Ms. Yang Yuchun, 65, was arrested by officers from the Zhangshanying Police Station in the Yanqing District on the morning of May 12, 2020. She returned home the following morning.

Ms. Yang was arrested again the following day. Her Falun Dafa books were confiscated and the police threatened to hold her in detention for five days.

6. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiufen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiufen from Majiadian Town was arrested on April 1, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Yiquan Town Police Station and released at 7:30 p.m. after her family was forced to pay 3,500 yuan.

Ms. Zhang was arrested again by officers from the Yiquan Police Station and the Majiadian Town Police Station on the afternoon of May 15. She was taken to the Majiadian Police Station. The police photographed her and took her fingerprints and a blood sample. She was later released.

7. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Ms. Qiao Shuhong and Ms. Zhang Zhiwen Detained

Officers from the Nancheng Police Station in Yuzhou City and the Domestic Security Division went to the homes of Ms. Qiao Shuhong and Ms. Zhang Zhiwen and arrested them on May 13, 2020. Both practitioners’ homes were ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, weekly publications, and keepsakes were confiscated.

Ms. Qiao and Ms. Zhang were taken to the Xuchang City Detention Center.

8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Guilan and Ms. Xie Mingkai Arrested

Ms. Zhang Guilan and Ms. Xie Mingkai, both in their 70s, were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested by Chengxi Police Station officers on the afternoon of May 5, 2020.

Their homes were ransacked, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong and desktop calendars were confiscated. They were photographed, and their fingerprints and blood samples were taken at the police station.

Both practitioners were taken home by their families the next day.

9. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhou Yuezhen Arrested

Ms. Zhou Yuezhen was reported to the police on the evening of May 11, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was arrested by officers from the Liujiapu Police Station in the Anning District but was released early the following morning.

10. [Shanghai] Ms. Gu Caiying Arrested

Ms. Gu Caiying, in her 60s, from the Changning District was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on Yan’an West Road. Her whereabouts are unknown.

11. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Qin Arrested

Ms. Yang Qin, 66, who is retired from the Tongliang District Municipal Bureau Supervision Brigade, was followed and arrested on the morning of May 13, 2020.

She has been arrested, held in brainwashing centers, sent to forced labor camps, and sentenced to prison many times for practicing Falun Gong.
