(Minghui.org) A man in Jinan City, Shandong Province, was fired by the electric utility company where he worked just two days after he was arrested for distributing booklets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Arrest

Mr. Wang Yongshan was intercepted by community security guards and reported to the police when he was recorded by surveillance camera distributing booklets in a residential community on the afternoon of June 14, 2020. The booklets detailed Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) persecution of Falun Gong

Six police officers made the arrest and took him to the Duanbei Police Station. The police confiscated his cellphone and bag. One officer asked him his name and address, but he refused to answer. The officer accused Mr. Wang of “spreading information against the Party that gave him a good life and salary.” The officer later handcuffed Mr. Wang when he asked to use the restroom.

Mr. Wang’s daughter called him around 6 p.m., but the police didn’t let him answer his phone. Shortly after, Hou Dong, Mr. Wang’s supervisor at work, called him, since he was supposed to cover the night shift beginning at 6:00 p.m. and hadn’t shown up.

After hanging up the first time, the police answered when Hou called again and learned from Hou who Mr. Wang was. Hou came to the police station half an hour later and talked to the police. He left without speaking to Mr. Wang.

The police interrogated Mr. Wang around 9:00 p.m., but he refused to answer any questions. He was then handcuffed to a chair.

Home Ransacked

Six police officers took Mr. Wang to his home around 10:00 p.m. that night and opened the door with his keys.

Officers from Mr. Wang's neighborhood police station, another officer from Duanbei Police Station, and a community security guard also showed up. They searched his home thoroughly and confiscated some of his personal belongings. The community security guard signed the list of items confiscated as a witness.

Mr. Wang was taken back to Duanbei Police Station and again handcuffed to the metal chair.

The next day, three police officers took him to another facility to collect his fingerprints and samples of his blood. On the way back to the station, they went to Mr. Wang’s home again and stayed for ten minutes. They later ordered Mr. Wang to sign a document, took his picture, returned his keys and cellphone, and then released him.

Job Lost

Mr. Wang called his supervisor, Hou, on June 17 and asked to return to work. Hou said, “Don’t come in. Your case isn’t resolved yet.”

Hou and others from the company tried to persuade him to resign voluntarily, but Mr. Wang refused, so he was fired.

Mr. Wang is now out of a job.
