(Minghui.org) I persevered in practicing Falun Dafa after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) initiated the persecution. I overcame family pressure and gradually my husband felt Falun Dafa was good. My son grew up without any interference. Even during the peak of the persecution, he could say in public, “My mom is a Falun Dafa practitioner.”
Teachers were forced to repeat the CCP’s lies about Falun Dafa in class when my son was in elementary school. His teacher understood Dafa was good but had to promote the CCP’s lies or he would be persecuted.
When his teacher asked the students, “Would you say that Falun Dafa is good?” The children did not know how to answer. My son raised his hand and said, “It's wrong for the police to arrest good people.” His teacher said, “You are right.”
Teachers were forced to repeat the CCP’s lies about Dafa when my son was in high school. His teacher had an open discussion and allowed the students to express their own views.
My son said, “The CCP slanders Falun Dafa and accuses practitioners of causing social unrest. This comes with a precondition, which the CCP controls. If the precondition is gone, the statement does not exist.” Both teachers and students agreed with what he said.
My son quit his membership in the Communist Young Pioneers when he was in middle school. He declined to join the Communist Youth League—but he was still named one of the best students in the city. In high school he became the student union chair even though he was not a member of the Youth League.
One Chinese New Year I said, “Starting tomorrow, when you have time quietly say, ‘Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ This time next year we'll see what you have achieved.”
The following Chinese New Year I asked, “What achievements have you made this year?” He immediately smiled and said he had big achievements. He got perfect scores in the TOEFL and SAT tests for his application to American colleges. His academics were at the top in his school. He was also outstanding in various off-campus activities, which made him be a little famous.
After he applied to American colleges, several schools arranged interviews. An alumni of a famous American school in China asked him for an interview. He went, but the person suddenly fell ill.
I was inspired by a practitioner's article on Minghui.org and told my son to buy a greeting card and wish her a speedy recovery. He asked the person at the hotel's front desk to deliver the card to her. The alumni was moved. Even though my son did not go to that university in the end, he formed a good relationship.
My son did not start practicing Falun Dafa but saved the electronic version of Zhuan Falun on his laptop. While traveling in Europe he met practitioners. He happily told them his mother also practices Falun Dafa. He extended their greetings to me.
My son’s attitude about Dafa has brought him good fortune. He was admitted to the graduate school of a first-class university after graduating from a top liberal arts college. His papers are published in high-impact journals and have been noticed by mainstream media.
