(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Yanqing suddenly encountered a traffic jam while driving on the street on April 8, 2020, and slowed her car to a complete stop. She saw that there was a group of people surrounding a van. When she got out of the car to take a closer look, the Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province resident was immediately taken away by police who had been trailing her. She was thrown into the Daqing City Detention Center.

Ms. Li, a 55-year-old retiree of Heilongjiang Province’s Agricultural Reclamation Economic Research Institute, has since been held in custody, for a year and two months.

Ms. Li is one of ten Falun Gong practitioners who were arrested on April 7-8, 2020, by police from Daqing City, another city in Heilongjiang Province about 100 miles from Harbin. Three practitioners have been released and seven are still being held. The seven practitioners still being detained were accused of making phone calls to the public about how the Chinese communist regime has been using similar tactics from the persecution of their faith since 1999 to cover up the coronavirus epidemic. They stood trial on June 22, 2021 and are awaiting verdicts.

How Ms. Yan Benefitted from Practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Li enrolled in the Chinese Department at Heilongjiang University in the 1980s. At the time, the acceptance rate was below 10%. Despite her excellent academic performance, she was hot-tempered—none of her older brothers or sisters could understand her. Her strong personality made her very competitive, and she chased after fame and fortune.

Ms. Li had an unfortunate marriage. Her husband often abused her. He eventually had an affair, and divorced her. Ms. Li had to raise her children alone. All the combined hardships made her life miserable and inflicted many illnesses upon her, to the point that living seemed worse than death.

One day in 1997, Ms. Li began to experience severe pain in her lumbar spine. The doctor she saw failed to treat her, and she had no choice but to endure the pain and go on a scheduled business trip. During the trip, Ms. Li visited her sister at Jiamusi City and was introduced to the book Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong. The moment Ms. Li opened the book, her pain suddenly disappeared. She was amazed. How could a book instantly cure her pain that even a hospital doctor could not?

Ms. Li started reading Zhuan Falun with her sister. When she got ready to go to bed, she experienced exactly what she had just read in the second chapter regarding the celestial eye. At that moment, Ms. Li exclaimed from the bottom of her heart, “What the book said is true!” She then began practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Li strove to live by the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” As a result, she turned into a completely different person. Her hot temper dissipated, and she now speaks gently with patience. In her mother’s eyes, she is a filial daughter. In her children’s eyes, she is a loving mother. Ms. Li maintains a peaceful and kind disposition, and no longer seeks fame or fortune. At work, she tried her best to do her job well and was always ready to help out a colleague without expecting anything in return. Gradually, her working ability and overall character were unanimously recognized by her colleagues and supervisors.

Practicing Falun Gong helped Ms. Li to emerge from the misery of her divorce and slowly let go of her resentment towards her ex-husband. She encouraged her children to keep in touch with their father and allowed them to visit him often. When Ms. Li’s mother was sick, she brought her to her own home and provided the best care possible. She also took care of her relatives, including her aunt, who lived alone, and her uncle when he was hospitalized. In fact, Ms. Li’s uncle said that Ms. Li took better care of him than did his own children.

As Ms. Li gradually improved her moral character and became a better person, she also began to regain her physical health. An egg-sized tumor was naturally expelled from her body without any surgical procedures, she no longer suffered from gynecological diseases or neurasthenia, and her frequent low fevers disappeared as well.

Ms. Li’s peaceful life soon came to an end in July 1999 when the Chinese communist regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong. After witnessing the CCP’s propaganda machine slander Falun Gong day and night, and seeing how people were deceived and unknowingly became accomplices in the persecution, Ms. Li filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime, with the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate in 2015. She was harassed by local police officers not long after, on two separate occasions, in August and September. On the afternoon of October 28, 2015, she was arrested and held at the Harbin City Detention Center for 15 days.
