(Minghui.org) Ms. Su Xiumin and Ms. Li Qiulian of Liaoning Province were taken to the Liaoning Women’s Prison on July 22, 2021, to serve a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Su lives in Linghai City, which is under the administration of Jinzhou City. She and Ms. Li, a Panjin City resident who came to visit her, were arrested on July 7, 2020, by officers from the Antun Village Police Station. Both of them were held at the Jinzhou City Detention Center and denied family visits.

The local court secretly sentenced them to three years each. The court informed their families of their terms through text messages in July 2021, shortly before they were taken to the prison.

Since August 1, 2020, the authorities in Jinzhou City have assigned all Falun Gong cases to the Linghai City Procuratorate and Linghai City Court, in order to expedite the prosecution process.

Mr. Li Kai, another practitioner from Jinzhou, was sentenced to six years with a 10,000-yuan fine by the Linghai City Court on May 24, 2021. He appealed the verdict, and the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court ruled to uphold his original verdict on August 3.
