(Minghui.org) Four Jingzhou City, Hubei Province residents were arrested together for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. Three of them are now facing trial.

Mr. Wang Meiqing, Mr. Liu Xin’an, Ms. Qiu Yunfeng, and Ms. Deng Yongmei drove to Mashan Town, northwest of Jingzhou, on the evening of April 15, 2021, to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong. They were reported and arrested by officers from the Caobuhu Police Station in Dangyang City and Mashan, which are both under the jurisdiction of Yichang.

The practitioners were first held at a detention facility in Zhijiang City, also under the jurisdiction of Yichang, for a 14-day quarantine. On April 28, Mr. Liu, Ms. Qiu, and Ms. Deng were transferred to the Yichang City No. 1 Detention Center, and Mr. Wang to the Dangyang City No. 1 Detention Center. The police refused to return Mr. Wang’s impounded car and yet charged his family 100 yuan each day for parking.

On May 11, Ms. Qiu was released and cleared of prosecution. The Dangyang City Procuratorate approved the other three practitioners’ arrests in late June and moved their cases to the Dangyang City Court two months later.
