Additional Persecution News from China – September 22, 2022 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chang Meiying Faces Trial

Ms. Chang Meiying, 81, was listed as a fugitive online by the Danjiangkou City Police Department in August 2018. She was arrested in early September 2022 by 27 officers from three cities, including Danjiangkou City, Shiyan City, and the Xiangyang High-tech Zone in Xiangyang City. Her Falun Gong books and printed materials were confiscated. She will be tried by the High-tech Zone Court in Xiangyang City on September 23. Her son is the only one allowed to attend the trial.

2. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xia Lingmei Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Xia Lingmei from Shanting District was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in 2021. She was released on bail after being arrested in June 2021. In July 2022, Ms. Xia was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, with a three-year probationary period, and fined 30,000 yuan.

3. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Mr. Yuan Youmin Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Yuan Youmin from Zhoupeng Town, Yingquan District, was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center on the 7th floor of the Gelindongfang Hotel in the Yingdong District.

4. [Dunhua City, Jilin Province] Ma Wenhua’s Home Ransacked

Five or six people from the Jiangdong Township Domestic Security Division, the No. 1 Police Station, and the sub-district committee ransacked Ma Wenhua’s home on September 5, 2022. They confiscated two seals engraved with “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good” and “Falun Dafa is Good,” and more than 60 Falun Gong books and printed materials. Ma was taken to the police station. The officers said that Ma was caught on surveillance cameras a year ago while stamping with the seals in public areas. Ma was supposed to be detained for 13 days. However Ma was released because he or she was over 70 years old.

5. [Shanghai] Yang Hui Held in Detention Center

In June 2022, senior engineer Yang Hui (gender unknown) from Shanghai was detained by officers from the Tianshui High-speed Railway Station in Gansu Province on the grounds that he or she told others about Falun Gong during a business trip. A few days later, Yang was handed over to Lanzhou Railway Transportation Public Security Division in Gansu Province.

On June 12, Yang was taken to Lanzhou No. 2 Detention Center, and has been held there since.

6. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Wu Huanhuan Arrested

Wu Huanhuan (gender unknown) was arrested at home by officers from the Lianxi District Police Department’s Domestic Security Division on August 14, 2022.

On September 14, Wu’s family members went to demand Wu be released. The Domestic Security officers said that the case was turned over to the Procuratorate.

Wu’s six-year-old son is in primary school. His term started on September 1 and no one was there to pick him up. Wu’s father was worried about the safety of his grandson. He suffered a stroke on September 2 and was hospitalized.

7. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Weidong Harassed Again

Ms. Wang Weidong, 75, from the Dongshi Residential Community in the Wenmiao Sub-district, Changyi District, was arrested on the afternoon of September 18, 2022, by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station, for telling a 19-year-old man about Falun Gong.

The officers ransacked Ms. Wang’s home and confiscated Zhuan Falun, Hong Yin VI, and Essentials for Further Advancement. Ms. Wang was then taken to the Changyi District Police Department for interrogation. She was released at around 10 p.m. that night after being fined 1,000 yuan.

8. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Wang Guangsu Harassed

At least six officers from the Zhanqian Police Station in Shouguang City went to the home of 86-year-old Wang Guangsu (gender unknown) at around 3:30 p.m. on September 19, 2022. They took away the Chinese New Year painting on the wall and the blessing character posted on the door. They also told Wang not to display them.

9. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Yue Chunguang, Mr. Pan Hongming, Ms. He Qiuhong, and Xu were arrested at 8:30 p.m. on August 11, 2022, by people from the Erdao District Police Department, the Domestic Security Division, the Shanxia Police Station, and the community management office when they were reading the Falun Gong teachings.

After entering the house, several officers knocked down Mr. Yue and held him on the ground. They confiscated a computer and a printer. They took the four practitioners to the police department. The officers also arrested Mr. Yue’s son who had just returned from out of town. They tried to force him to admit that the items belonged to Mr. Yue. The son refused to cooperate.

At the same time, the officers took Ms. He to the hair salon where she worked and to her home in order to look for evidence, which they did not find. They then took her to the police department, where they abused her in order to extract a confession. Ms. He was released on bail at around 5 p.m. the following day.

Xu had a heart attack on the evening of August 11. Xu took medicine five times that night, which did not seem to help. Afraid of being held responsible, the officers took Xu home after they came to work on morning of August 12. The officers ransacked Xu’s home, but did not find what they wanted. They released Xu on bail and told Xu to report to the police department every month.

The officers took Mr. Pan to his home and confiscated a computer and a printer at 1 p.m. on August 12.

Mr. Yue was taken to Liuhe County Detention Center and Ms. Pan was taken to the Tonghua City Detention Center on the evening of August 12.

10. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Qi Guiling Arrested

In July 2022, Yang Huanpo, director of Yaodianzi Town Comprehensive Management Office, led twelve people to break into Ms. Qi Guiling’s home in Fengtaizhuang Village, and ransack the place. They tried to arrest her, but did not succeed.

Ms. Qi was arrested at home at 7 a.m. on September 18. It is not known where she is being held.

11. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Qi Xiufen Detained

The home of Ms. Qi Xiufen from Yuanbaoshan Power Plant was ransacked on July 13, 2022. She was not at home at the time.

On August 15, Ms. Qi was arrested and taken to the Pingzhuang Detention Center, where she was held for five days.

12. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Li Deqing and Delan Arrested

Mr. Li Deqing was arrested at work and Delan was arrested at home on September 16, 2022. The police ransacked their homes but did not find anything they were looking for. The practitioners were released two days later. They were told to show up at the police station whenever they were told to.

13. [Chongqing] Ms. Chen Shilan and Ms. Chen Shiping Arrested

Ms. Chen Shilan from the Zhuyuan Residential Community in Dadukou District and her younger sister Ms. Chen Shiping from the Lanqinyuan Residential Community (built in the second phase of construction) in Tiaodeng Town, Dadukou District, were arrested on the afternoon of September 20, 2022. Their homes were ransacked. Ms. Chen Shiping was released. Ms. Chen Shilan was taken to a detention center.
